Black Betty, Rock Crawlin Trail Truck Build !!!FOR SALE!!

crazy how it worked out for ya...i hated using bump stops on my crawlers, but i would rather do that than replace shocks and possibly break something worse like draftshafts and hubs...do you have have axle limit straps?

Yeah, the 5125's. haha

:haha: NICE...well after wheelin my crawler for a while and other friend's trucks and dropping the axle i invest in them, and they can be made pretty easy if you don't want to buy them. good lookin rig I need a tub bender...how do you like that ratchet bender?

Bender is awsome for the money. Unless you are a girly man or using it all day long there is no reason for hydro bender. With hydro you can be a little more precise but as long as you take your time with the ratchet style toward the end of your bend and dont over bend you're good. You spend WAY more time figuring out your bends, and notching/welding than you do actually bending the tube. Physicaly bending the tube is the easy part IMO.

We've bent some 2" .250 wall tubing in my friends pro tools bender!! That took two people and a longer bar but it did it. Those are the tubes for my Ram Mount.

would be nice to get a group buy on those...i built a home-made notcher out of a drill press and some some pipe/stock i had laying around...worked great. but i don't think i'll chance it on making a bender...where'd you get it from?

at the shop they dont have a manual bender due to having to take up alot of space inside a shop, it always rains here so why have one outside- solution

Been working on the TBI swap this month. Stainless braided lines, fuel filters, pump are all in. Harness is all cut down and finishing it up now. The harness will be a complete stand alone unit so it could be removed if I ever swap fuel system again or go to a 6.0L it will all come out real easy and not effect the rest of the electrical system. Only wire that will need to be cut is the 12V ignition (hot while cranking also) wire which I soldered in with the power wire to the coil.

Still need to wire up a check engine light and the OBD connector. Need to make a mount for the ECU. Swapping out the water neck for a new one from summit because it blocks the location for the temp sender in my edelbrock intake. Hoping this thing will run good enough to go wheelin before I need to burn a chip.

I'd like to do a writeup on the PROM tuning but I barely have time to work on it.

I had to have one...

No Dash

Modifications (first time welding aluminum. With the cost of my spool gun and all the rent I've paid on my argon tank thats about a $300 ECU mount. hahaha)

More to come..

Purdy. :waytogo: Miller or Lincoln? How do you like the spool gun? How does welding Al compare to mild steel?

its a hobart spool gun on a 210 hobart 210 handler. As far as the aluminum welding goes I have about 15 minutes of experience but your voltage and wire speeds are much more critical. Its harder to compensate with technique and speed. The puddle is much more "liquid" and flows a little faster. I only welded 1/8 stuff but if you're too hot the backside of the plate will distort. If you're way too hot you'll burn through fast and I dont think it would be as easy to fill a hole with wire like you can with mild steel. I think my hobart spool gun will work on the miller 252 I have at work. I bet it would make all the difference being able to fine tune voltage.

I've got one of Kert's dashes in my sights as well. I saw Ben's posts on his install but I'd like to see more. Keep us updated! :)

well I dont have any other pics on the install. its pretty straight forward though. Cut/unbolt the old dash and bolt in the new one. The dash is 90% in the truck now. Just need to throw some screws in it here and there and get some gauges. Ill post pics when its done.

well I have swapped TBI into the truck and have spent a lot of time learning about tuning and chip burning. Still messing with that quite a bit.

I'll try to post up some pics of what I've been workin on all summer.

-Trailer Rebuild
-Highlift mounted
-TBI swap

Made an offer on a used NWF doubler kit and tripple shifters today. So I may be working on a doubler build soon.
