Black Betty, Rock Crawlin Trail Truck Build !!!FOR SALE!!

Ok well here's the new to me 16' trailer I reconditioned. It was allready widened. A little less trailer than what I'd like to have but the price was right.

-Greased up the bearings, checked the brakes
-new tires
-new wiring
-new paint (vlaspar equipment paint from Tractor Supply w. hardener, sprayed, came out great, hard finish and is holding up well so far. MUCH better than my rustoleum job on Black Betty)
-winch and mount (battery box)
-Made some ramps (no pic)
-Reinforced the the lock on the tool box.
-Used up some "where the heck am I gonna put that" stickers.

Do you have more pics of the supports over the fenders? I had thought about doing that, but it seems like it could be a nightmare trying to keep the tires from sliding off.

Have you tried them?

I dont' have any more pics but I was told it was 0.250" wall 2" square tube. The previous owner had a jeep on rockwells and 46's. He had to drive over both sides. With my rig all I keep the driver side tire tight to the fender and the passanger side rides up over the fender. I havn't really seen what it looks like because I'm the only one that pulls it up on the trailer.
Someone else already mentioned adding some sort of friction paint to the deck to keep from sliding off the trailer on wet/muddy days. I've never had that problem but I guess if you arn't parked on level ground and you arn't careful that can happen???

Well I got a pic of the dash installed last night but didn't get if off the camera before work :doah:...

Doubler goodies and more updates coming soon...

Ok. Time for some real updates.

Here's how the dash looks so far. This is Kerts dash. Prototype that is shown on the website plus a switch panel and I added a 12V outlet

Here's what I've done with the bumper. Used some 409 stainless tube that I can't weld for sh*t. I really don't like it that much, but it works. It still needs more reinfocement.

I don't think I ever posted on the completed steering. I tried to cheap out and not build it with high steer arms and I reused the tierod ends. So far it's holding up but when it breaks I'll be going high steer arms. Before someone asks, yes the diff cover can come off.

Had to swap to a different orbital. 4.5 turns lock to lock was way too slow for me. it's about 2.5 now. Kert built the orbital mount :thumb: Steering shaft is super beef and required a lathe and about 20 different pieces but its got a splined slip section you can't see in the pic. It's a combination of tractor parts and an XJ driveline. Speaking of that the orbital is out of a tractor as well at some of the steel on the ram mount is steel from an excavator bucket. Orange of course....

I'm not really a fan of night riding but maybe rock lights will help... Yes the interior cage isn't tied to the frame yet. I swear it's on the "to do" list. And yes, i've been flirting with the death of my aluminum 205 adapter and the trans housing...

Got a tool box and a hi-lift....

And now for the current project.... may take a while for this one...

DOUBLER!

P1000609.jpg

Starting in top left...

NWF Tripple Sticks, Ford 32Spline Front output and 1350(i think) yoke, Slip Yoke and GM 10 spline input (will be swapped with the fixed yoke that's currently in the truck and I still need a short 32spline input), Box of random 205 internals,

Middle of the table...

NWF Doubler adapters for a GM figure 8 205

Bottom of pic left to right....

TH400 short 32spline output (This was actually the wrong shaft and I ended up getting a different 1" shorter TH400 output that was the th400 to np203 output. Whoever sold me this, I can't remember who you are but :flipoff11:), TH400 to 203 adapter, NP203 32spline input, NP203 range box with NWF doubler goodness on it, (first person to say what this is wins...), And finaly the 205 case I just prep'd for the machine shop so I can run the large input bearing.

Man you've been going nuts!

Hahaha. Not really. This is more like what's changed over the past year! I have been working 6 days a week and cutting grass after work in the evenings all summer so there's really been no time to play. The TBI swap really was kicking my but for a while with a couple issues that were hard to find. only an hour here and an hour there also makes it really hard to get stuff done.

Guess where all that dubler stuff is... same spot as in the picture from almost a year ago. Hahaha. Lots more dents in the body now though.

It seriously seems like just yesterday I was checking out this build. Man time flies!
