Blazer Bash 2021 not Last Minute Thrash

Wait, your not supposed to bring a shit box out to get it finished by all the skilled builders on run with you. Dam that's harsh
For BB15 I was installing parts at the campground and was afraid to put the truck in 4low. The parts didn't work and I ran the entire weekend with zero gauges for the engine.

My post was typed with the sarcasm filter engaged. I don't mind it as much when it's someone else's rig, but I hate it when it's mine.
I figured that. I do not care about working on little things on the trail, as long as they are not mine.

Right there with @Babaganoosh
Going to spend today prepping my dune buggy for the Manx club run in big bear. I am sweeping one of the trail runs. Myself or any other that breaks will be roasted thoroughly at the awards/raffle Sunday morning.

The 4x4 club I'm in has a traveling "Horse's Ass" trophy that is handed out each month to whomever had the worst trail run incident.

Was that the year, that you ( I mean I) bent my t-case crossmember on Metal Masher. lol

I live for the Heckling, some might say that I have a real knack for that sort of thing (or Jack does). I also find I excel at being a rock cricket, which is just another form of heckling.
Multiple personality's will do that to you.

Chipping away at my list, wondering why now on a Friday I didn't order some parts ahead of time for a weekend thrash.

Knocking stuff off my list.

Last weekend I flushed the coolant, added water wetter, changed the gear oil in the trans, changed the ATF in the transfer case, and the gear oil in the rear end. Lucas products for all. I was particularly interested to pop the cover off the rear since I did the grizzly Locker about 5,000 mi ago and wanted to make sure everything was legit. No sparklies or metal chunks so all good. Also changed some u joints and started doing a bolt check, and oh boy I found all the bolts on my T-case adapter were loose. Now I will check everything.
Today I'm going to change my spark plugs and change my front body mount bolts, as well as check the others.
I've been rounding up spare parts and tools since the spring and now just need to figure out how to pack it all efficiently.

Big stuff coming up:

I've got a Dana 60 on the way from Boyce Equipment, it is currently on a pallet on a truck somewhere in Idaho. I've got everything I need to do the swap rounded up so I can probably get it knocked out in a weekend.
I've also got a line on one of Engineered Vintage's first behind the bumper winch mount kits, which I hope will be in my hands by the end of August. I already have a winch so that should be about a day of work. Cool story is I traded my old Warn trans4ormer grill guard for this new winch mount.

With all that being said I'm super excited to get my big truck out on the slickrock and see what it can do and meet all you great folks.

Riding the struggle-bus today. Mid-nineties and me cranking on the truck trying to replace the exhaust gasket on the passenger side is not going as planned. I've had to bail and come inside to cool off before overheating myself.

Manifold has been yanked. Head cleaned up. Manifold cleaned up. Got the manifold back on before taking this break. Still need to tighten up the flange to the exhaust pipe and put the plug wires back on. Small victory, I didn't kill a plug wire on this side.

It shouldn't take much to finish when it cools down.

We're having the opposite weather here in AZ. It's been raining for the last 3 days straight and the weather hasn't gone much over 80, it's been a glorious break from 110+.

The S-10 is on the lift still, it's been neglected for the last couple years since we built the cage. We've knocked a few items off the list already.
-winch solenoids replaced
-ballistic joints on rear upper links replaced
-Exhaust system completely patched up (had a cracked manifold and numerous other exhaust leaks)
-Frame inspected for cracks and welded up
-We discovered that all 3 bolts holding the drivers side engine mount to the block had fallen out causing the engine to lift up and hit the cross bar right on the A/C clutch. Those bolts got replaced.
-replaced the spark plugs because I broke one pulling the manifold.

The list is much smaller now, but we're still working out there today.
