Blazer Bash 2022 It's TOO late for Last Minute Thrash

I rinsed mine off today too. I ran over a cow pie somewhere and it was stuck down one side of the body. Ready for show and shine.

Got my A/C put together yesterday. New compressor, new accumulator, new orifice tube. All components flushed, new o-rings. Held vacuum for 45 min. 134-a installed, one can with dye. Pressures looked good. 42 degree air from vents at idle! Yay!!! That lasted about 2 min. POS LMC high side hose started leaking at the crimp! Now searching for a crimping tool, and, or a new hose from LMC, on a 3 day holiday weekend....... F#@%!
I'm in the same boat. Got it all done held a vacuum charged and blew at the crimp. Had it re-crimped. Ran it down held a vacuum filled it up and blew cold for 2 days... Now nothing. No time to fix it before the weekend.

I'm tired of this crap. I'm going to buy a nitrogen cylinder and regulator, so I can pressurize the system with dry nitrogen, and test for leaks, without losing $100 worth of freon.

That is what I do. Purging all of the atmosphere is a good thing also. The Restomod Air system I put in the Fugly Duckling comes with the evaporator and condenser charged with nitrogen.

At least we’re not the only ones fighting ac problems. I thought I had our ac fixed, but a week later and it was blowing hot air. Took it to the guy who charged it up and found that I had installed the orifice tube backwards‍♂️ Well we headed out for Moab on Friday and didn’t make it 30 mins down the road when it started to blow warm again! Figured out the clutch switch was bad, pulled into parts store and replaced it in the parking lot. Bingo! Ac is blowing cold again, hopefully it last for the remainder of the trip.

Am fighting ac issues on the coach dash air. I am of the opinion the thermal expansion valve is bad. I have good pressures and it'll blow cold, then it won't. I think the valve is getting stuck. Is a 31 year old aftermarket system, hope I can find the valve.

Just finished the nut and bolt check, found some crossmember bolts loose, U-joint, a few doubler bolts that needed snugged, transmission pan. U-joints, steering arms and box, shackles and suspension were all good. Now to grease it and then start organizing and loading supplies for a Thursday morning pull out...

I mowed in the rain today so Eileen will not need to while I am gone. This is really weird to not be thrashing to get ready. And I am OK with this.

Added a jump start plug to the Ram today. This was left over from our towing company in the early 80's. Saved it after dad passed because, "I might use it some day". Today is that day.

I need to know when to keep my mouth shut. Took off a while ago and the 8.1 had no power for the start of the mountains. Lean fuel trims and further inspection found fuel pressure at 42psi. That’s no bueno for an 8.1. I was only 20 minutes from the house. Picked up a fresh ep381 pump on the way home and started thrashing.

Jiggle siphons kick ass by the way. 4CC5E43A-C651-4F15-B228-8D27C095C8E6.jpeg

In for the night on the Colorado border, Kansas is rather flat :eek1: Have a trailer tire I’m keeping an eye on it’s about 10 psi low in the mornings but I’m not pulling it to mess with it until I’m in Moab.
