Blazer Bash 2022 It's TOO late for Last Minute Thrash

It was 98 in Denver when I looked earlier, about 94 here in Kansas today. Plan is to head to glenwood springs tomorrow morning and may stay there tomorrow night, going to visit the guys at ORD tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday morning and then head for Moab

Don't forget they moved

I have not, I’m going to assume it’s less flattish
Couple thoughts

2 passes are 12000’
Vail and Eisenhower
I’d gear down and come down from the summit at about 50, let the engine and trans do the work. About once a year someone makes it to BB from back east with no brakes left

Third pass is Floyd hill just outside evergreen. It’s steeper than it looks despite the lack of elevation. I’d do the same on that

Once you get past vail it’s pretty uneventful

3 big hill climbs going from east to west, watch any gaugses you have for temperature, then once at the top you head down, leave a huge gap between you and anything in front. Then when you head home heading west to east I find the hill climbs are longer and steeper. Welcome to towing threw Colorado

Yeah I forgot about Georgetown. It’s a real bear going east to west. It’s flat from the top, so it’s no big deal once you crest. Sucks coming down

Shoot it was the run through the geological cut just past C470 that showed I was lacking power in a big way. Normally I’d go up in in fifth at the speed limit. The 8.1 was hungry and was asking for more fuel but the pump couldn’t deliver.

Pulled off before Genesee and boogied back home.

My son and I kicked ass dropping the tank and putting a fresh Delphi unit in. Rolled back out of the driveway at 6:30 and crossed the state line just before midnight. Met up with my buddy Bill just north of the Canyonlands entrance.

Truck ran flawlessly the entire way. Time to crash out.
