Blazer Bash trail run 10am-6pm?????

I don't like getting started to early myself but one thing I have learned in 10 years of BB.

Everyone is on vacation, Herding cats is easier than getting the groups in the right spot at the right times, everyone wants to hang out and BS all the time, everyone wants to stop and look at the scenery, I could go on and on.

It doesn't matter what time you start the trail runs someone will be late, someone will just have to stop for gas, someone will just need to run the the grocery store real quick, Trucks will break, scenery will be looked at and the trails will go slow.

As you can assume I like to move quick on the trail, so a late start is fine with me but IMO you loose a good part of the reason everyone comes, BS'ing, scenery, and a bit of wheeling in the middle. Late starts make it to where you have to move quick and not waste time cause I also like to eat dinner at someplace other than Dennys at midnight. The brewery at 6:00 is much better

So in short I am in full support of 8:30 meeting times and 9:00 at the latest departures. If you get back into town you can do all the maintenance, fueling etc. in the evening not the next morning.

But I think scenery looks better a little blurred.

In all honesty since I am lucky enough to have been in Moab countless times the scenery is less of an attraction now. I do know the good places to stop and enjoy the scenery though. One of the best views in Moab is at the Golden Crack. It's nice to get there and just have a little time, in the daylight.

I like the scenery to be a bit blurred as well. Sometimes by the hangover and speed others just by the speed:haha:

I can't sleep in, on vacation or at home. I prefer to hit the trails early and get back in time to have dinner and sit around a campfire drinking beer.

I understand I'm in the minority, but that's my $.02

Heck, I don't think I got more than 5 hours of sleep the whole time I was in Moab, there's time to sleep when I'm not on vacation.

Unless you got a rifle, shotgun or fishing rod in hand. Then it's ok:D

I don't need to do that stuff on vacation, I can go out after work every day and be in the best hunting and fishing on earth. Perks of the Job :woot::woot:

I agree with Brandon Early is good or better its nice to get to the middle of trail or a spot where everyone can relax and take it all in before the rest of the onslot begins. I dont care what we do just sign me up and lets go.

I don't mind getting up early to go wheeling .

It is nice to get back to town before everything is closed.

After running Pritchard canyon in BB11 we got back to town at about 9:30pm

I'd vote for being there early even with the family tagging along. Never been to Moab and I'm sure I'd want to be one of those scenery geeks :D

I'm with this too. Load the little ones up in their PJ's if need be. Then change out at the first big stopping point/obstacle. Rather do that than get back super late. Thats what the bash is all about, checking out some trails, seeing some scenery, hanging with other ck5'ers.

not saying to change all the trail runs, just an optional one for us late risers!
Hence the 10-6 run on the thread title!
