Blazer Burned, Now w/ pics.

Dude that sucks, sorry to hear it. But I noticed it happened down in the Greenbrier Valley - I AM FROM LEWISBURG, I live in Charelston now but I'm a grad of Greenbreir East, I grew up down there. My folks still live there. What shop was it and where, I don't remember any 4x4 shops in the area but when I lived there I wasn't realy into it. Its a small world I guess

WOW! That's sucks for everyone involved. The guy burned, the shop owner, the business owner (if he was renting the shop) and you. I really hope the business owner has insurance. Hope everything works out for you. That was one HOT fire!
Regards. Aaron.

All good advice so far. On the issue of disclaimers inside a shop, in Oklahoma they can disclaim "foreseeable" losses like theft by saying generically "not responsible for theft or damage to car while left here". This fire aint foreseeable under anybody's definition. If you have any specific legal questions dealing with any of this, feel free to email me. I don't check PMs. I can always have a clerk pull WV law if you need it...good luck, sorry about your truck and the guy that got burned.

that totally sucks. that must have been one incredible fire to completely destroy the building. was it your gas tank that they were working on?

Holy crap...thats a bad nightmare!

Best of luck to you!!! Hope you don't get screwed over on this one!

1. I hope the guy that got burned makes a full recovery

2. Start gathering adds for vehicles like yours with similar mods in similar condition and the asking prices, even go look at them and document why yours was bettera and worth more.

3. Make an itemized list of the contents of the vehicle with what reciepts you have. What items you don't have reciepts for get adds from businesses with current retail prices for replacing those items.

4. On the vehicle document the smallest things like tires, wheels, upgraded interior, stereo, engine mods, anything that was not stock.

5. I would start asking the insurance company about rental vehicle if you need it. also if you don't need it make sure you document the value of that to the insurance company.

6. As was mentioned before don't accept payment until it is an amount you agree with. Most checks and paperwork they send you have a disclaimer about cashing this check means that the person who cashed it accepts this amount as payment in full..

Time to do some legwork and research to make sure you get properly compensated.

We had a work car get destroyed in a shop that was completely destroyed by fire. We did get compensated for everything in the car.

Hope it works out well for you!!!!!!!!!

Fires suck

I can't fathom how devastated I would be.. So sorry to hear this man...

FULLY compensated cash-wise is a misnomer.. If I had to charge someone actually value of parts and MY labor to build my truck... forget it... How do they compensate for 1000's of hrs of labor? not.... When my trucks DONE, I'd want 40g's to replace it, no bullsh@t...

This makes me wonder about getting mine appraised in some way, next insurance renewal... it'd raise my rate, but I may sleep better at night...

Is the cause of this tragedy known?

This is one reason I watch eBay and print auctions of vehicles my year and in close condition as well as "mint" near new ones. This along with the maintains records. As said documents are what matters.

Dude that sucks. Got any before pics?

Here's the best I have of it on this computer.
It wasn't my gas tank.

Unfortunately, the shop doesn't have garagekeepers insurance. The guy has lost everything he's spent a lifetime putting together. I spoke with him yesterday (and the insurance agent) and I think we are going to split the difference in what it's worth. Even though it was entirely the shop's fault, I don't have it in me to try to sue him for the entire amount. It's just not something I want to do to a guy that's lost so much. This way makes it okay for me and okay for him.

I really can't afford to lose half what it's worth, but it's not going to kill me either. Maybe I'll get a hall pass in the karma department.

X2 if the guy reopens a shop maybe free oil changes for life. I am a firm believer in what we do comes back to us either in the good we do or the bad we have done.

get on craigslist in arizona..

find a handfull of nice blazers, call and yap with the owners. use the money to fly down here and drive one home you like.

if you want I have a few extra bed rooms and always love going and blazer shopping:D I get insanly good rates from the enterprise rental place here as well since its the only company the body shop will send business.
