Ok, so they aren't all just repairs. Might as well do some upgrading as well.

Some time ago, I spun a bearing in the 500 cadillac. The engine was thrown in quickly in a vain attempt to make it to Blazer Bash, which ended up not happening due to other problems with the blazer.

Well, it's time to rectify that ailing engine situation.

Coonie's Racing Engines has started in on the heads. Cadillac 902's, which are the closed chamber heads. So far they have been, disassembled, cleaned, crack checked and surfaced. Soon as the valves show up, forward progress will continue. We're installing 2.19" Intakes and 1.84" Exhaust valves. Cadillac big blocks suffer from a poor valve train so we sourced a set of Roller rockers and larger push rods from Potter.

There'll be lots of port work to do. And soon as I can, I'll get some more pictures posted up.

This go round, we're gona try playing around with some fuel injection. I think we have a pretty decent game plan. Unfortunately, I'm not all teched up on fuel injection so I'll be relying on some good friends and some good advice along the way.

One thing that bugged me right away was distributor options. A nice long chat with Phillip Chacon at MSD yielded this little baby. MSD custom built this distributor for me. As far as I know this is a one of a kind. There is no vaccum or mechanical advance. All the timing is handled by the computer. There is some phasing adjustment inside though. Ignition module is remotely mounted to get it out of the hot engine bay.

I see you went with Potter's Rockers. I have a set too. You will not be disappointed. They are sweet.

Glad you chimed in here. What did you do to stroke yours? I have opted not too but we were talking about ya today when the subject came up.

So, I managed to accumulate a few more parts. Whole engine build has been on hold for these, now we can start the boring process and figure out how much weight we can dump from the crank. Some knife edging to do in there as well.

Pistons are 10:1 forged and forged H-beam rods... Ya know, just in case someday if you wanted to put a bottle on it.

I just love/hate these kinds of parts. They look so nice and hopefully you won't see them ever again!

There may be some issues with the rockers, talk to Matt down at Potters. Who's piston and rod combo. For my stroker I went with a 4.400 stoke and a 4.380 bore. I got a sweet deal on the pistons, forged probes with pins for about $300. I also have a set of heads from Potter in the pipeline as well as a set from MTS. So 2 sets of Aluminum heads to look at will be nice. Just not sure what cam to run yet. I also have one of the MTS bulldog intakes as well

These are forged probe pistons. Newest design. Supposed to be good to go, either with aluminum or factory heads.

They are potter's combo package.

What's the issue with the rockers?

Werent you destroying joints with the old 500?

I only heard it run one and I loved how it sounded though! Make it mean as hell Kert!

More destroying them from axle wrap in the front end then tourquing them off.

I think it should be plenty mean.

Forgot about this one. As I recall you really need to check between the cup and pushrod so the pushrod doesn't hit the body of the rocker arm.It happens if the pushrods are a little long....you back the adjuster off to far and then the push rod hits.

I'll definitely check that.

Making some progress these days,

Engine has been bored and honed.
Intake manifold has been setup for MPFI.
Lots of work happening to the crankshaft.

Batteries moved.
Trans/tcase tunnel refabbed.

So far another 200 lbs. has been removed.

Currently, I'd be hard pressed to find more than 2' of wire anywhere on the rig.

Got on to another part of the build today, for Stomper and myself.
