Well thats what my k5 looks like now. what i was thinking about doing is A CB radio(uniden 78) and a 9 foot whip on the bumper, Push Bar that bolts to frame and bumper, fog lights, ORD steeringbox brace, More aggressive tires(BFG MT's), maybe some stock wheels(not rally's). and it might become a towrig for a samurai for a year or two, if that happens reverse lights, tranny cooler, tranny temp gauge.

Spec: 78 K5 350, th350, np203, Dana 44, 12 Bolt, 4.56 gears gov-loc rear, 33 12.50 tires mounted on 15X8s

Opions, Comments, Suggestion?

Thanks

Towing or not, a tranny cooler is never a bad choice with an auto. I don't do a lot of towing now, but I have a pretty massive tranny cooler on my TH350, and will probably replace it with a bigger one when I get the new 700 to drop in. Especially where you are running 4.56 gears with 33's, your tranny is turning higher RPM's so getting a tranny cooler shouldn't even be an optional item.

well the reson i am not going to put it on till i start towing is because i have an extra capsity aluminum tranny pan. and at this point in time i dont drive the truck to much or am i towing anything with it.

honestly, I would leave that truck exactly how it is besides little things here and there, such a clean looking truck.

i was kinda thinking the same thing Pvt. Maggot. another though is for a cb is a magnetic wilson on the roof, and the more aggresive tires are a must(i could hardly move in 10 inches of snow in 4 wheel drive)(i dont drive it in the snow but that was really embarising). if i use it as a towrig tranny cooler is a must and a tranny temp gauge(i got another stock ashtray i was going to mount the tranny temp gauge in there)

I think I like the plans. I would go for some fancier wheels while you're at it though.

Here Found a pic not the best pic but oh well.

And here is what i wanted to do for a tranny temp gauge

DANG whatever you do DO NOT MOLEST THAT TRUCK !
I love it. Thats hawaiian blue, only thing better would be a full vert but still thats nice. Modify it to suit your needs and wants as long as you dont hack it up.

Trust me i NEVER NEVER would mess up that truck. i am kinda thinking no to the Push bar ive seen em get pushed in and mess up the front end. and the whip off the bumper i was going to build a braket that bolts to the underside. the CB there is already holes in the dash that the mount will fit on. and for the tranny temp gauge i got a spare ashtray and i will just paint it the same color as the dash. thats probaly what i will end up doing and more aggressive tires.

I still no sure on what i am going to do for wheels. all i know is i dont want rally wheels(everyone has rally wheels it seems).

Here is something.
Current wheels (if you look in the bottom left corner you can see the stock jack. my floor jack was at a friends house)

Stock "Styled Wheels" (what come on the truck in 78')

I think those old mag wheels with the lima bean shaped holes or the turbine wheels like on the general lee would look killer on there.

Ive never been a real big fan of the turbine style wheels. and the other style i have somewhat of an idea what your talking about

EDIT: is this what your talking about

That is one gorgeous blazer, and since you vowed to not mess it up, I won't tell you not hack it.

(and it is in writing now, you go against it, and hack that truck up, the brotherhood will come a knockin'!!)

But I really like the lima bean wheels, hahaha. That's probably the best description for them.

But I would find a wheel with smaller beans, it would give the wheel more a truck look, and less of a car look...

well reason i would never hack this truck up. i got almost a complete history on the truck. i am the third owner, the previos owner was my uncle and he is very good friend with the orignal owner. it lived in the desert of california for its whole life till i bough it

yes those are the lima bean wheels only in a tiny 4 lug probably 13-14" version. Im sure there were made in deep dish 15" 6 lug i used to have some 16.5x11.75 eight lug versions i wish i woulda kept
