I have been doing some research on the swap and have a few questions I can't find the answer to. My current tank is rusted out and would like to upgrade to a bigger setup.

1. Can I use the stock fuel door? I keep seeing people running a different setup.

2. Can I use factory blazer brackets and pieces to complete this swap? Or is fabrication required?

Thanks

im curious of this one myself...i was just gunna bite the bullet and do it but have yet to start. other more important things are getting done first

a kid i went to high school with had a short bed with a blazer tank but he had a 2" body lift and was about to fit the gas cap between the tail gate and bumper. and it wasnt really noticable at all. im sure if u have either a body lift or handmade bumpers you could fit it there no problem

when i do mine i am gona do the filler tube in the box at the back corner piller post to blend right in and then master battery disc switch in the fuel filler door empty spot.

and i can get pics around of the 2 simple cross members i made from angle iron. 1 replaces the back flimsy cross plate at the back of the frame.

edit found i had pics . . .

pics 1-3 rear most cross member with notch on each end for wires and stuff to pass threw.

pics 4-5 is the front cross member with bolts to hold straps to unit and level block on each end .

these were made for k30 frame. so mabye small diffrences for k10-k20 frames.

all the holes werend drilled yet for final install of the units. and the rear unit uses the stock rivit holes to now bolt in to place.

pic of little whimpy stock rear cross member thats replaced.

That's a good design, but I'm looking to use k5 pieces to bolt onto my c10 frame with no fabricating required. I would like to just drill out the rivets and running bolts through and running a hose up to the stock fuel door.

Basically I'm trying to make this look completely stock like it rolled off the GM line with no body lift.

Someone out here has to have tried this. :doah:

fyi pass side fuel door on blazers. and if you turn the tank 180* to make it left hand door then the sending unit lines will point out the back of the tank. not to the front of the truck.

also running the filler tube that far will require a good slope to the new line or it will be a super pita to fill with fuel. the almost flat filler tube length will basicly make the gas pump safty kick off at more than any flow in to the filler tube more than a trickle.

reason i did this was my back crossmember was trashed. someone hooked it and tore it up. so i just made a new one.

Hmmm, thank you for the information. This is starting to sound like I should just look into a dual tank setup to achieve what I want.
