Blazer Top - Paint vs Line-X

i got the top from my uncle and the rack came with it. he's just had it sitting in his yard for years. (got rid of his blazer ..'90 ish) i think he told me that a company in bc makes them. but that was '85 or so. that company's probably dead and gone by now. you could make one easy though, it's aluminium so it weighs like 3 lbs. if you want, i can take a bunch of pics and measurements for you once the snow leaves. (who knows how long that will be though... prolly a month and a bit.)

That would be grate. I would love to see more pics of it. Do you know how much weight it can carry?

i don't know any weight ratings but if i had to guess, i would say A LOT. it's sturdy and you could brace it too. i think anything short of rolling the truck, it could handle.

mojavek5: do you still want pics of that rack? i've had them for a while and have been trying to post them on a different thread but my internet is so slow tht i can't. anyway, if you want pictures, pm me your email adress and i can send them that way.

So I had been looking for a solution to my sad looking top. I found this thread and people had mentioned Durabak. I got a couple samples from them and wanted to know if people that have used the product found that the textured was too rough for a blazer top. This looks like the product I will be using in my zuk tub but not so sure about my blazer top. Here are a few pics of what I mean.

An update to the Durabak story... Man that stuff is tough... I tried to scratch it scrape it and peel it... The only way to damage it was to break the sub surface it was bonded to and get it to start to peel. I spoke with someone at Durabak and he said that I could buy it in quarts and mix the smooth with the textured to lessen the texture and make it more like the surface that I need it to be. He also said that I could apply the second coat with only smooth to even more make it look like the factory coating. He says that this stuff is really durable outside and it has a mil-spec rating for use on marine shipdecks.
