Adapter failure? Sheared studs?
Adapter failure. Me and @cybrfire were looking at it. Looks like the steel threaded inserts moved in the adapter allowing it to loosen and then shear the connecting bolts.
Got her up on the trailer and was able to salvage enough threads and bolts to get it back together for the ride home later. Put a ratchet strap around it just for extra insurance.
looks like you even did some body work while it was on the trailer.

Cable adjustment?
Too much fluid. Dipstick was showing low while on Backward Bill so I added a quart. Ended up being too much. Drained the quart back out last night and 4th came back while on the way to Copper Ridge this morning.
That's gotta be a huge load off your mind.
Came off a ledge too hard and my rear view mirror fell off, sank right into my dash
Yeah, until the transmission adapter started pulling out of the transmission while in Kane’s Creek

Looks like the center section of a cv joint to me.
Time for 1410’s and Boggers.
It was the cv joint on the front of his rear drive shaft.
