Blazer's 85 Suburban "Twinkie"

Its the start back up after a few minutes that has got me confused :dunno:

I am leaning towards a spark issue or a power issue. Just because it is so sudden.

I am figuring of it is fuel it would sputter and cough and run like crap before it died.

Like something is getting hot/ warm and causing it to turn off. It is not H2O that is getting warm though.

Going to get a spark tester inline on one of the plugs and run t until it dies again then see what the tester is saying.

I would check grounds pretty hard, then direct wire the pump for a test drive. Put a battery temp in the rear and run pos and neg direct to the pump for drive test.

definitely sounds pump related, either dying pump, relay on the fritz, chafed grd, etc...

and congrats on the props!

Thanks guys

So the saga continues.
Went out today pulled the cover off, started it up. Started right away.
Drove around the back yard. Down the street, idled it for awhile.
took it down the road about three miles. Let it idle for about 15 minutes drove it home let it idle until I was tired of hearing it.

No issues at all. :dunno::dunno::dunno:

pinched the fuel return line pump changed tune

So really not a clue

Started it up this morning with the idea of taking it to church. Was letting it warm up for a bit.....it died.

So cycled the key and the fuel pump no prime.

So after church went out and cycled the key 15 times each time the fuel pump primed.

So I am going to take a guess that it is fuel pump running issues.

Yesterday while it was running I disconnected the power to the fuel pump and it died. Somewhat sounded the same when it died as when I unplugged the power.

So going to run a new return and check the relay and the wiring for the fuel pump, on Thursday.

Intermittent thing would make me wonder about a loose wire/ground.

What about the pump relay? What'd you use and where on the truck is it?

It is a Edelbrock MPFI the whole system so I will have to do some research into it and see what they used as a fuel pump relay.

So the fuel pump relay is a GM part number so going to look in that direction maybe just get one they are $18 from Summit. Probably a bit cheaper at Oreilly's.

So drove down to the farm store to get some nuts and bolts, died on the way.

Drove the rest of the way and home with out any issues, after letting it sit for a few minutes.

Drove back to the farm store because I needed a piece of steel.

Died at the end of my street on the way back. Pulled out the multi-meter to see if the pump had power, muti-meter is broke. So neighbor pulled me the 1/4 mile home. Started right up when I went to check it with the not broke multi-meter.

So .... put in the new relay ran it for a long time and took it for a drive no issues.

Not sure that it is fixed :dunno: Pump sounds louder now, not sure if that means anything.

Decided to make the "trunk" bolt in instead of weld in after pulling it out twice and having to cut, grind and re-weld figured it was easier.

Also went and got it registered.
