Blazer's 85 Suburban "Twinkie"

So am I going to need a alternator indicator light ?
I vaguely remember reading/ hearing some where that they need the light as an exciter to make the alternator work.

I've never wired a light in to any of my alternators and they've worked fine

The cs130 or CS 144 (I forget which but i think it's cs144) needs a light or a resistor that fools it into thinking there's a light. There's a couple versions but one has it built in and you can tell the difference by the pin labels on the connector. I think I just googled it to figure out which one needs it.

I did not put one in and it seems to be charging fine.

Got about half of the gauges in. The turn signal indicators were a pain in the butt, well not really I can't feel my butt right now (ms), so they were just a real pain. One of the first ones did not work, went and got another one and the wire tab broke off. So ended up making four trips to Oreilly's to get it right.

Was going to hard wire the GPS in, not going to happen so it is plugged into the cigarette lighter plug. Just have to turn it off manually so no big deal.

High beam indicator works, volt meter gauge works, as does the air fuel gauge. Still have to do the tachometer, oil pressure and fuel gauge. As well as pull out the headlight buzzer and probably the hazard flasher, switch is broken any way.

The papers are what every wire with its color and the switch it goes to..

Thanks guys

Got the oil pressure gauge in as well as the water temp gauge.

Fuel level is giving me fits hooked up the wires and it pegged to past full. Wont un-peg either. Have it hooked up to a shared ground. Key power and the tan and white wire in the dash wiring. Not sure why it is not working.

Fan controller is acting up too needs to be reset it is telling me the temps are to close together need to reset it thats no big deal.

get this crap all figured out before you gt up here..My rig and I have high standards

So been thinking about this fuel gauge issue I have had.

Decided that I am going to run a new wire from the tank. Instead of using the one that is labeled fuel tank from the wiring harness. Do its own ground and its own power and see it it works right.

Not working fuel gauge is very irritating.

That is slick! Any views from looking in the door area? Turned out really good

sweet! I probably would have gone with a bigger tach, but that's just me. :)

The tach and the oil press and water temp came from a old race car, that is why it is so big and the other two are liquid filled. But thanks guys
