Blazer's 85 Suburban "Twinkie"

In light of my interior color question and the off the wall answers, no way in the world am I painting my interior orange. Brown maybe, white more then likely. But not Chevy Orange. When the engine gets rebuilt, the engine, the trans and the t-cases will be painted orange.

That being said been looking at tubing benders and plasma cutters. Rouge fab bender and a plasma from Eastwood. Any body have any thoughts on either?

So next plan is a traction bar. Going to buy a weld in Johnny Joint for the one end. Use a bunch of the parts that I have for the rest of it. Thinking about attaching it to the end of my transmission mount / skid plate. Should be about the height I need it to be as well as the right length.

Figure it will give me something to do until the tube bender decision is made.

So ordered the Johnny Joint should be here in a few days.

Had the day off so did some work
made this thing

Debating on welding the shifter boot plate to the sides making it all one piece. Not sure if I want to seems easier with it being three pieces to take out so may just keep it as three..

Oh and another picture of the thing I built. It is my hopefully better fuel tank vent. Used a piece of exhaust pipe I cut off. Some big washers and a bit of thought. Going to put a T on the hose and a 90 on the bottom. The idea is that it will vent at the top and the fuel will condense in it and then drain back to the tank. The issue that I have with the old set up is its vented and cooled and I would basically have fuel dripping out the vent.

So I have a traction bar question. Does it matter which direction the shackle goes? Compression or tension ?

I cant figure out if it does so I thought I would ask the masses.
