Blazer's 85 Suburban "Twinkie"

Haggerty is great for the stated value insurance policies that collector car owners want, but I'm not sure how they would work for Twinkie. Part of their premise is that they know collector car owners are going to take very good care of their vehicles and not drive them frequently.

Can't you just insure it with a liability policy like a normal vehicle? I have my side by side insured with my insurance company. Not sure what kind of policy but it has full coverage for like $77 a year or maybe twice a year.

they don't touch offroad trucks and you need a really clean driving record.

I only carry liability on the K10.

wonder what the issue is with modified vehicles. if you have full coverage i can see that they don't want to pay for aftermarket parts but if you have liability only what's the big deal. (other than we build tanks that would probably kill others in a wreck)

I've got full coverage on my k5 with usaa. Seems to be cool with them.

USAA is a no go for me something weird with my DD-214, not sure what is says my separation is but they said no. I of course don't have a copy of it so I cant even check.

exactly, they see my truck as a 84 C20 Deeslow, probably get 2500 (if I'm lucky) for it.....it's not worth the full coverage.

I have American family.

They use to insure my class 1 race car, paid out on it when I wrecked it.

I know of a lot of guys that had them on their sandcars as well, huge 100k+ value policy’s with no issue.

So been trying to get a policy found and insured, no luck.

Checked out the registration. It is listed as a Street Legal ATV with the vehicle information listed OVRvin as a 1985 Suburban. Type is a ATV, the body style is a Full size ATV

Liberty Mutual is who I have now, they said no.
American Family has yet to get back to me, its been two days, well this is the second day.

UGG, no hair or i would be pulling it out

Have you tried progressive? They handle my dual sports. They are who USAA uses for motorcycle/ATV insurance

Is there an advantage to having it registered as an ATV? Why not license it as a regular vehicle?

Progressive was the ones that just cancelled me. Said it wasn't an ATV it was a modified 85 Suburban. The issue is registered as a street vehicle is it doesn't have anything that is needed for a street vehicle no wipers and windows no doors. It would also have to pass emissions which I probably could do now this fuel injected but.....

Damn. That’s what I get for not going back and re reading.

I’ve read it’s pretry hard to go back to a regular vin after converting it to ATV in Utah.

This is why my 88 and 78 are both registered as vintage. no safety or emissions so nobody ever even looks at my vehicles. they could be in 100 boxes in 3 states and still be registered and insured. I would really look into registering as vintage if possible to switch it back.

since utah doesn't do safety inspections anymore do you need one to switch the title back?
