Blazer's 85 Suburban "Twinkie"

So the mods begin , well sort of. The drivers side shock bolt was loose again so took off the nut put a lock washer on it now that i have a ton of them and will see if it stays tight. Power steering gear box was leaking again so I tightened up two of the bolts. they were loose again, and the leak stopped. So I took the bolts out a applied some loctite since if they are tight it does not leak.

Started making the foot rest then decided to make lunch.

All metal pinch lock nuts. Only way to go.
I am changing all mine to that but what do you do with bolts that thread into boxes?
Locktite or split washer?
Could also drill the heads and run safety wires

I really like the serrated flange bolts. I order them in bulk from McMaster in grade 8 and use them along with serrated flange nuts anywhere I don't want to use the pinch locks.

I replaced all the bolts on my NP205 with the serrated flange bolts. Seem to work fine.

So got some more done today, basically all of it

Foot rest, pedal thing is done

T bar handle is done need to go get some handle bar grips and then cut the bar down maybe, will have to see how much space I have. It far enough away collapsed that it will not be in the way when you get in and out of the truck. Used the old handle from the tubing bender did some cutting and notching and welding worked rather well. have to tighten up the fit a bit but that is what duct tape is for, or something. They wanted $47.00 for one from a Razor a bit to much for my taste.

So took Twinkie to the farm store did some weighing
Decided that the B pillar was a good spot to say lets weigh the front and then the back with the split at the B pillar
so...
Front 3330
Rear 2440

have about 100 or so lbs of stuff in it more then when I weighed it last so that is about right, high lift, OS bar, another foot pedal, some more full tool boxes.

Oh and 5770 is lighter than I thought. I would think twinkie was at least 6500

That actually is not bad.
A little more weight on the front axle helps on climbs.
I used to be able to climb places others couldn't with my perkins td on the front of my blazer.
As long as the weight is not too high and the suspension doesn't unload fast it will not be a problem to flip backwards which is not easy with the long wheelbase

Unless you cut twinkie in half, your only weighing axle weight. You could move truck forward or back on the scale all you want, axle weight stays the same.

That is kind of what I wanted to see. I knew what the total weight was just wanted to try and see where the weight was going.
