The ignition amplifier is just a box that holds the 7 pin GM ignition module from the 80s. So if it fails you just drill out the rivits and get a new one.

I just saw what FasterEddie posted above, if you have an RPM signal to the ECU, a new coil, and still no spark, a new ignition module might fix it cheaply.
If you decide to move forward with updating the whole ECU to be both self tuning and fully programmable, I have the stuff in stock to make it work with most of your current hardware.
