Blazin' Again...

Why you replacing the bronco?

And how built is that 302?

Regardless, that K5 should be pretty badass.

And I'd expected to catch more crap over having a BRONCO in the background of nearly every picture!
Jeep :sign9:'s are mainly that...:sign9:.

Most of us on here are non-brand loyalists or smart enough to know that not everyone likes the same thing, everything GM ****s out isn't gold, and some vehicles are better at some things than others.

The Bronco has been my trail rig/ mud drag racer/ daily driver/ tow rig for my camper. I am a pipefitter, and work on the road and live out of a camper alot, so I plan on replacing the Bronco with a 2wd truck that can pull my camper and the Blazer to take over all of it's off-road/ weekend duties. I have too many toys to keep them both as toys!

My 54

And my Harley

And the Bronc... (before I put tires on it)

I'm not a brand loyalist, but I do try to buy American whenever possible. Vehicles are one place where I won't skimp on that.

And for the Bronco motor, it's just a 93 Cobra "clone" cam and worked stock heads in an otherwise internally stock motor. Not really what you'd normally call "built", but still kinda hot for a daily driven (often 200 miles round trip) truck.

It's got underdrive, Hooker SuperComp Hedders, and some ignition upgrades too.

That 54 is bad freekin a$$!

Thanks! I've had it since I was 14. I'm running the motor and rear axle that was in my 89 K5 when it got totalled eight years ago. It's got a Jasper Class II 350, 89 model TBI, Affordable Fuel Injection harness, TH400, and 12 bolt 4.10 posi. Still runs the scary I beam suspension and drum brakes all the way around!

Haven't got a whole lot done lately, been doin more work on other people's stuff than mine lately. I needed two more rally wheels, and a buddy had a pair on a parts truck that he donated to "the cause." Only one would come off, the toher was siezed to the axle itself. Thanks to good friends, I've finally come up with four rally wheels from four different trucks at four different places! But we got to prowl in the boneyard a little...

Finally found a motor I could pick up! I felt so bad ass.

Until this one wouldn't budge.

But now I have a full set. Once I got my garage emptied again, figured I'd turn the K5 around the other direction. Had pretty good help from Dad's dog, Enzo. Dad may have helped too...

And the boys helped me sand today.

While I cleaned up the wiring a little and cleaned under the hood. Gotta blow some black paint on the firewall, then it'll be ready for the motor to drop in. Today I traded a set of Holley/ M/T aluminum valve covers for a Mallory HyFire ignition, and bought my buddy a set of gaskets and some wiring stuff for his 68 Impala SS to trade for his Vortec heads. Once they're swapped, I'll be ready to drop in a motor!

Got the grille out today, the rest of the front cap is ready to prime, cleaned up under the hood, and blacked out the firewall and inner fenders. Excuse the small crappy cell phone pics lately, I gotta get some more batteries for the real camera.

Got a little more time in the garage last night. It was 16 degrees outside and the wind was blowing at 20 something miles an hour, so it was all I could do to keep the shop warm with the barrell stove and a Reddy Heater.

Started out by getting the truck dusted off and wiped down.

Then doused the thing with a coat of red primer.

The body work is by no means done, but at least now it is solid and all one color, so it won't bring down my property value by sitting in my driveway! The doors still need attention/ replacing, but they got sprayed just for the sake of making everything match in the meantime. It looks good enough to move on to mechanical stuff now, worry about body work when it's not so hard to get the shop up to 70 degrees.

I picked up a set of heads off of a buddy today. They're 90 model truck heads with a fresh valve job and a port and polish. While I was at it, I grabbed a TBI intake and decided I'd just go ahead and TBI the truck.

I have a harness from Affordable Fuel Injection.com on my 54, and I love it. However, I'm wanting to go a little different direction with the 54 since it's not my primary vehicle anymore. So I'll be transferring this setup to the K5 once the motor is in.

So I didn't get the motor in nearly as quick as I thought I would. I got the heads mounted on the motor, put my intake on, and then I started to brainstorm. That's where things got a little sidetracked...

My 54 is running a TBI setup with a harness from Affordable Fuel Injection.com, and I'd like to run the same setup on the Blazer. So I've spent the last few weeks pulling that setup from the 54, and doing a little "throwback engineering." It's now setup with a 60's era Quadrajet, Mallory dual point dizzy, early 327 intake with the filler neck, and 1961 Corvette finned valve covers.

The TBI, harness, and serp setup, along with the 1989 K5 tank and fuel lines are now going into the Blazer. I am in the process of trading into a 700R4 and NP 241 transfer case, but I have the TH 350 and 205 transfer incase that doesn't work out.

Here's some updates on the project(s)...
