Newer duramax engines dont let the 110 volt flow to the heater element until 0* . . And heard if you bybass this it will throw engine codes .

13 for over night.
Sounds like normal weather to me .
Never had a block heater on anything except diesel.

BUT...carbs suck! If you have a carb, expect to have to mess with the choke and pulloffs. If this stuff isn't right, you'll at least have to mess with the throttle manually until it warms some.

Lived in PA all my life, never had a block heater on anything, always run 50/50, heck a lot of my junk had who knows what/50 and never had an issue…..I generally always flush when I get a new to me truck, but I’ve bought some with nasty shit that I know got below zero and never an issue.

it's gonna warm up next week. Weather Shaman now say 23 low in Tonopah, only in the mid 30's in gold country. Nice heat wave, welcome news, esp nice since route will have us following the Donner party over the pass.

to bad the east half of the country will not be warmer.

Coldest Christmas in many years out here in the east they are saying, must be all that global warming!

It's that fockin La Nina. Third year in a row for that cold hearted whore...

Gonna be -30 C here overnight (-22F) and it won't be the coldest of the season I'm sure.

Be wary of the Donner pass. It can and still will be icy In spots. Make sure you have a full tank and some food in case the highway gets closed. Lots of spin outs from trucks and flat landers driving too fast.
Just bring a tasty passenger in case you get stuck...why mess with tradition?

Gonna start with the Chihuahua mix.
Just picked up some 0 degrees windshield washer fluid, need to siphon then flush the lines. Just fixed all that don't want to do it over

dont forget to run the washer fluid to flush the lines . . years ago i had summer mix in my moms suv and the rear line froze up . i pulled it in the suv in a warm shop for a day to get it warm and flush out .
