looked at a m1008 with a friend. think its called blow by. we go it started after a bit of looking at it.. seem to run ok. then i see there is some kinda smoke coming up fro the intake and the oil fill cap.

any ideas?? what could this be? bad egr? thanks

could be spilled oil burning off the intake or something like that. you won't see crankcase vapors unless it coming out of the breather hose or if you pull the fill cap. and at that point just because you can see crankcase vapors doesn't mean you have a problem with excessive blowby. you have to put a manometer on to measure blowby for hard data. drives me ****ing nuts when I see a guy puts his hand over the fill cap and says Oh you got too much blowby. :shame: they usually get an earfull of....... I got a digital manometer in my service truck that says you're full of ****.

edit

ok I'm don't bitching I think. any ways soap it down with degreaser. and powerwash the bag off it. in the valley heads both sides, don't be shy. then run it up to temp and see what it does/ and where its coming from .
