Recently helped my brother install a new engine wiring harness in his 1977 K10. This connector is all that's left and I had a feeling that it was for oil pressure but his factory gauge is a mechanical gauge. What would this be for?

Oil pressure sender. I think the last year for mechanical oil gauge was around 75, so the gauge cluster has probably been changed out with an older one.

'77 was the last year for a mechanical oil pressure gauge.

That does look like a connector for an oil pressure sender though, except it should be a tan wire in that case. My guess is that the aftermarket harness is slightly incorrect for a '77.

What's odd is that every other wire is right on the money.

Green for coolant temp, tan for oil pressure. Don't think those ever changed (?). Oil pressure is the only underhood connector I ever remember being that style.
