Blzer La Pampa

If your gonna go to 37s or 38s I'd look at swapping in a 9.5" semifloat 14 bolt 6 lug.

This is out of a newer truck and is not a bolt in. Spring perches and shock mounts need moved.

Your other option is to find some 3/4 ton axles from another square body. Those are direct swaps. You'll just need 8 lug wheels.
I was offering him my 3/4 ton axles with 4.10 so he can have 35" tires run good for his purpose.
But, I guess he wants the look of 37-38" tires, and although he can do with 4.10 spending a few minutes on this forum 4.88 will be the minimum he wants and I know most will convince him to go 5.13
I am offering him now the 4.88 from my blazer with the 37" on it, or the 38" that I have for sale.
The way it is now with the 350/th350 it's overgeared, anything above 58mph the engine is getting a little warmer from high rpms so with the 700r4 it will be perfect with either tire.
What do you guys think?

I'm going to look at this a little differently. Hang in with me.

You want to run 37 to 38" tires right? Let's work that problem before getting to the axles. That size tire is going to require at minimum 6" lift to fit without sheetmetal trimming. 6" lift on a K5 will require driveline modifications to address the major change in driveshaft angle due to the lift. (...)
As far as I understand it already has 6" lift, could you tell from the picture? In order to fit 37" or 38" tires, with current lift kit, I don't think I would need to modify anything other than changing axles. Tell me if I'm wrong.

That is some idea @imiceman44, but then I'm not sure if you should break the kit. Blue blazer looks good & works good the way it is now. Are you gonna remove parts from it and let it rot in backyard?

@imiceman44 always has a plan!!!!

The 4.88 gears would likely be alright. My Jimmy is geared at 4.56 with a 700 and 37s ( short military 37s) and I run in overdrive with no shifting issues. I certainly wish I had 4.88s but the old 6.2 is wheezing pretty hard at my elevation.

If buying new I'd certainly go 5.13s with 37 or 38 but buying Issams axles will be cheaper by a large margin I'd imagine.

To run 37s or 38s with a 6" lift you will likely need to trim. Not alot but a bit. If your careful you can do minimum trimming to the point where few will notice.

I drove the blazer enough with the tbi 350 and I can tell you with all the extra weight from 2 batteries, cage, doubler, big 37" tires custom bumpers and the winch it's geared perfectly for a 700r4.
It's pulling comfortably but cannot sustain highway speeds 70mph for long, it starts to get hot.
I did drive it up to 72mph, and sustained 70 for 20 minutes but it was hovering at 220.
And yes as Eric said I always have a plan.
The blue blazer will be put together with other axles if I sell these axles.
The question after you drive it will be if you buy it or you buy the parts you want like axles and tires.

What about blue blazer + 700R4 swap? Seems like perfect combination. Is that TBI on blue blazer healthy?
After Christmas like you said come and drive it.
I was planning on putting the 700r4 in it to make it perfect.
We could possibly make a deal that includes the blazer as partial trade

Wow, so many options. Alright, I will show up at your place around end of December, we will discuss further details. I know more less what I want by now.

Currently car is sitting on a parking lot because of faulty transmission. I started it for 10 min today to get engine running and got medium size leak right under front differential. It seems to be engine oil. Took some pictures. Any idea what could it be? Valve covers look very dry. It seems to be around the area of passenger side of the engine, front.
