Bomb proofing a Dana 44 front

My tru-trac is pretty seamless in its action. The only time has done anything goofy was driving in 4hi on partially snow-covered pavement. It jerked the front end all over the road depending on which side had traction. Kinda spooky at highway speeds.

I can totally attribute the tru-trac in mine getting my truck up some serious climbs that I would not have made it without.

Question then. Is there a front locker out there that will lock up like an Eaton G80 will? That's what I have in the rear and it has yet to fail me in any condition. I can go out in loose gravel right now and step on it and both rear tires will light up. I turn left or right and no tire chirp, nothing. I have never felt it lock or unlock but everytime I have needed it, both rear tires spin.

I'm not aware of anything that works the same way except an actual G80 Gov-lock. I agree that when it works as intended it's a pretty good diff. The one in my old '83 S-10 Blazer and '03 2500HD worked really good. Always seemed to lock almost immediately when needed with no clunks or surges, and both vehicles had well over 100k miles on them. However the one in my '90 K5 seemed to take forever to engage and when it did it caused a bang. I bought the K5 when it was only 4 years old with under 50k miles so not like a super high mileage unit, and the previous owner was a woman who just drove it around town.
I've had experience with many other lockers and limited slips over the years. The K5 got a True Trac in the back after the Gov-lock exploded, and then the next was a welded 14FF. The front axle had an Eaton Posi and then a Lock-right. I thought the True Trac was a great limited slip. Besides for the above mentioned rigs with Gov-locks I've also owned a Dodge 1500 with the factory Trac lock and drove several other Dodges with that rear limited slip. Better than an open diff and would keep both tires spinning on the road but took very little off-road to cause them to one wheel peel. The factory torsen limited slips in the Dodge 2500 trucks worked decent. I also currently own a Ram Power Wagon with the factory selectable lockers front and rear, with the rear being a torsen style limited slip when unlocked. To be honest I've never felt any of the other limited slips besides the one Gov-lock engage or disengage...they were always a progressive feel. Not like you would be spinning and suddenly the True Trac would lock in.
