I installed Borgeson 935 Steering Shaft today in my 1989 GMC Jimmy. The end at the steering box does not slide all the way on because the torsion bar sticks out too far? Dont want to cut it

Not sure if this is the right application.
It should have a longer end to reach unless the instructions say to cut the tip

What the heck is the bar sticking into the joint? Mine doesn’t have that. Make sure all the splines on the joint are engaged with the steering box. If all the splines are engaged, it should be ok, but I might cut that extra thing sticking out off.

I was thinking the same thing. I'm pretty sure its a centering pin for a rag joint, grind it shorter and call it a day. Not like he will go back to a rag joint anyway.

Thank You imiceman, jeff in co and bp71k5
It looks like jeff in co pictures show the bar as well but your splined joint is pushed on a bit further.
I found this, Its called a torsion bar some of the saginaw boxes have them some don't? I almost cut it off not sure how that would effect steering. I'm going to do some more searching.

I've got the borgeson shaft on my truck, I just saw sawzalled off that little nipple, the u-joint slid all the way on, no problems, had on my truck for over a year now

I did some reading on the torsion bar. Cool info. Looks like the nipple could be cut off with no bad effects. The torsion effect of the bar is between the roll pin (attached to the splined shaft) and the opposite end of it.

Thanks Chris
I like that option works for me.
