So I have an old set of Bose 901's I tore apart to keep some of the speakers. My idea is to try to integrate some in the kick panel, or side panels. Of course these will be accompanied with a 6x9 of some sort. I would love Bose sound in my truck. What do you guys recomend?

im not super into home audio, but would guess the drivers you took out will only really sound good in their original enclosures. Car audio mids/highs are designed for infinite baffle, those drivers are designed for whatever enclosure they came in.

Someone else will chime in, but i would reccomend getting some good car speakers instead

Alright, I'll bite........what is "Bose sound"?

:usaflag:

Bose sound is just quality sound. I'd like to have a sound that is as if I were in a theater.

Those were really nice home audio speakers (unless they had not been taken care of), but will probably not work well at all in a vehicle. The cabinet design is most of what made them sound great, the speakers themselves were not really any better than anything else IIRC.

So maybe I'll go with another Alpine or similar setup again. Recomendations?

All depends on your budget.

For the 100-150$ range per pair, i like the Infinity speakers. I just got a set of their reference series 3.5's for my dash (their middle to bottom of the line speaker), and the magnets are HUGE, and come with caps to block excessive bass.

For the $50-100 range, i have had a hard time beating some Pioneer's like these:

I haven't hooked up this set, but i have the same series in 6x9's in our boat, on deck power, and was very happy with the results. With a good amp, i think they will sound even better.

You definitely need to do some front kickpanel speaker pods, or door speakers, to get decent sound in these trucks. Front door isn't ideal, but easier than kick panel pods. The dash can work for highs, but thats about it.

As for higher end speakers and components, i have my preferences, but very little experience, so i'll let someone else chime in. Remember though, acoustically, car stereo's are way harder to setup right than home theater. Way easier to make a decent car stereo with some good speakers, than it is to have a Great one with good balance, etc.

Yeah, Ive heard good about Infinity. Boston as well, Maybe I'll just S-can those Bose's..
