Bossmanivy's Suburban build!!!

I just want to say thanks for the advice and help with my electrical issues. I was able to fix the tail lights. The wire was corroded through half way down the frame rail. I still have to fix the blower motor, power windows, speedo, and the brake light on my dash is constantly on. I'll tackle those things one at a time. I'm still trying to empty the gas tank so I can do my lift, this is taking forever!!!

I have no idea how i made it through the weekend. We had great weather and I was ready to lift this beast. Took height measurements at all fours

Then I went to remove the gas tank and get that rusted pos of a hitch off

Now it's time to clean the frame and paint. I kinda got lazy on this part, snow has been melting all day and I didn't enjoy sitting on the ground as water was running through my workspace. Anyways, I bolted in the new hardware and got the tank back in place, but not bolt in, and that was Saturday!

It's Sunday morning. And I'm off to an early start. First order of business is get the gas tank buttoned up. A pair of vice grips came loos, fell, and got me right between the eyes. Left a real nice gash. I should have quit right then, I was so excited to finish up. All that grinding in the back was a PITA. I thought the front would be a breeze.
I got the truck set up to tackle the front. Two forklifts ought to do it

The u bolts wore me out, and I used a ton of PB Blaster. Now it's time to get those chinsy springs out. Not so fast. All the leaf spring bolts were seized up. The outer shackles weren't even attached to the fram an either side. I took some cutoff wheels on my grinder and cut the bolts off flush with the edge of the springs on all sides so I could pull them out.

I have a question. Does anyone know how to get a very seized bushing and bolt out of the shackle mount on the frame and where to get a new bushing. Parts stores told me they didn't have any listings for it. I can order the FUSH kit from diy4x, but I didn't want to spend the money right now and the website says those are for narrower springs. Any suggestions please!

Back to our regulus scheduled programming. I didn't take any pics because I was in the heat of battle. I had to move the burb, I couldn't leave it parked there all week, so I bolted in the lift springs I had and started to bolt everything together. The shackle on the inside of the frame rails was not removable so I bolted the single shackles to the leaf spring so I could move it across the lot. I am not taking this thing on the street till it's safe. Because I have it all bolted together, I can see how much lift I got. The truck is still on its original tires.

I couldn't resist, I had to put the tires on and see what I had spent all weekend doing this for.

Torch will burn the bushing out.

Best to remove the bracket from the truck. This way you don't need to worry about burning wires or fuel lines/brake lines.

Burb is lookin' great. It is a requirment to throw the new tires on whether or not its ready. YOu need that, "OH YEAH" moment.

I just ordered a set of HD greasable shackles from ORD. I didn't order a FUSH right now because I don't feel like messing with making the hole in the frame bigger right now. It seems like doing this is going to be a big enough PITA. Oh well, waiting for parts to come in while the burb sits. Have a great week!

I used a porta power to press the bushings out on my kids truck. worked pretty good. I did heat the bushing mounts up too though. would definitely have to watch for nearby lines.

I was thinking about taking the mounts out, then bolting them back in when I get the bushings out. Not sure

You might be able to get away with drilling a bunch of small holes in the bushing and pulling it out in pieces with it still on the truck.

Keep up the good work!
