Bought me a Diesel blazer. Finally

i'm aware the K5's could get the SM 465, my '81 Jimmy was a factory 4 gear (with 305 ) truck. What i was doubting was that the SM 465 could be had behind the 6.2 in any of the half ton rigs. I've yet to see one that was factory...

What I have heard was the manual option behind the 6.2 C code was the A883 OD 4 speed, but I dunno if any were ever offered in the K5's or even any of the 4WD rigs.

J code plus 465 I've seen quite a few times
C code with 465...never seen one

Ahhh. You're right - I've never seen one either. Every factory diesel K5 and 1/2 ton P/U I have ever seen were backed by 700's...

I know I've seen K10's and K15's with the 6.2L and the 4 speed. A friend of mine looked at one in San Diego years ago. He didn't like the diesel and I couldn't drive a stick at the time.

I've seen one or two pop up... but they are rare. Through the mid 80's, GM was pushing the "FREE Auto Tranny Upgrade" pretty hard though.

Need someone to post my pictures for me as;

I doubt I'll reply to 10 threads today. :)

That was done recently (the 15 post thing) because we were getting bombed with graphic porn spam by spam 'bots'. Putting a 15 post limit in place stopped that problem cold...

PM me the link to your album and I'll put em up here if you want.

No problem...so was Hoover dam cool? It's one of those places on my list of stuff I'd like to see one day.

Rene

I'd been there before. Never ceases to amaze though. Didn't know they were building a new highway over the river side of the dam.

Cool!

So the K5 did well on the trip home then?

Looks to be in really nice shape!

Very nice! Keep that baby inside though! These Albertan winters are not nice to these old trucks...

I've got two 6.2L diesels in my posession, one is freshly rebuilt and turbocharged using 6.5L stuff, the other is NA, old and worn out in my offroading truck.

Nice trip.

Is that the B-52 in Mobile, AL?

Ditch the rusting boards...errr...running boards!

The running boards will be coming off. It's in pretty good shape. A little surface rust here and there. Much better than the trucks around here. It did really well on the trip home, except for the driveshaft. It wasn't lenghthen'd when the lift was put on, thus creating a bit of a vibration. It wasn't noticeable under 55 mph, which is why the previous owner didn't change it. He just puttered around town. By the time I got to vegas, the u-joint had tapped out. I limped it into dan's driveline one saturday morning and they were kind enough to retube it while I waited. It still had a faint vibe, as the lift was done with springs instead of blocks, there was a 4* shim installed on the bottom of the spring pack. When I got to my 4x4 shop in Bozemon, MT, I asked if they had any different shims. They had a 6* shim they swapped out, and that was what the doctor ordered. Now about those oil leaks. lol

Yup, that's the B-52 in alabama
