In my shop. Doing stuff.
So we decided to go wheeling tomorrow. Should be slick and nasty. So the winch is a must. I do not have it on the Jimmy for DD'ing. So I go the the airplane hanger I rent. Open the massive door that hinges in the middle as it goes up. Pulled the Jimmy near to install the winch. Wind is gusting bad. Get the winch on and I hear the 4000lb door lift and bang back into place. I run to the switch to close it. Not realizing the Jimmy is too close. Was cleaning up all of the crapp that blew around. Heard the sound of metal crunching. The door was closing the hood on the Jimmy in half.

You have never seen an old fat guy move so fast. Got the door stopped before it got to the fenders. Beat on the hood for half an hour to get it straight enough to latch. Then jumped on it a number of times.

That hood was the only straight panel on the truck.

No I do not have pictures. Was too bumbed to take any.

Hope wheeling is better tomorrow.

nothing hurts as bad as self inflicted wounds. :(

sorry to hear it, but munepit is right, at least they all match now. :D

The other have have nature rash. The hood has boot prints.

Looks like it is time to push out as many as I can and get MrK5 to do a wrap for it.

Your title scared the heck out of me.
I have had lots of brain farts, but they never did me any damage........

Then I read the piece, and realized you meant damage to something else.........

Sorry bout the hood. I guess the air cleaner and rad is OK?

And I hope the oil and other things under the hook are full. Now that you got it latched, it just might be a while before it unlatches....

I was going to make a manifold burrito for lunch tomorrow. Then realized I would have to eat it old.

At least it was a brain fart, its those damage causing regular farts that really nasty...

At least you got it stopped beofre it was too late for other area...

Don't feel too bad, crap happens. Also, if that door is indeed electric it should have a sensor on it to prevent what happened. I just put a gate open on the 28' sliding gate into my back yard. I installed an edge sensor that takes 4 psi to trigger the gate to stop, and also a infrared sensor to hopefully catch anything before the touch sensor gets to it. I didn't want the sides of any of my trucks to look like your hood.

Live and learn...

Door is 26 feet wide by 14 feet tall. All steel. Not a single one in the airport have sensors. The doors go down so slow and make so much noise, it would be hard to miss it.

I just had the Jimmy in the wrong place.

I got this dent when I was running up this creek bottom at 90 and back end kicked out and hooked a rock.

This fender got mangled when I was coming out of a gully and had a bad approch angle.

Smashed the rockers when I was showing this jeep guy a line up the trail...

What happend to the hood?

Well ugh (rubbing the back of your neck) that's a funny story.

So while wheeling in the snow, a trail that normally takes 2 hours took 6, damaged the left quarter panel and left shell window. And the transfer case is leaking really bad.

Quick throw the hood in with this trip story and you got it covered.

Sorry to hear about the rough trip on the trail. After the hanger door it would have been nice to have a gentler trip. Well you got out and thats what matters. I spent the day and tomarrow finishing the deck. Next is dining room hard wood floor install then I get to tear down the blazer.

Hmmm. Bummer bout the truck.

I know a guy who has a tan hood......In good shape, hit me up of you need a hand pulling the tcase or swapping a hood.

Even a white one that doesn't resemble cheap tostada shell
