I'm in full teardown mode today and it's been 18ish years since I've taken a master cylinder off a square body. Should this grease be gobbed up back in here. Was expecting it to be dry.

Any recommendations on brand? Are they all the same at this point? I remember carquest and Napa were the best the last time I replaced one. That's been a long time though.
