When u install a line lock in your brake system, do you have to run brake lines into the cab and back out? Or is there an electric line lock out there. I haven't researched it yet. Which is better, line lock or driveshaft e brake? Figured I'd check here first cause collectively you all have saved me a bunch of money. so help a brother out! thank you!

how long are you holding the brakes for ?

what is the main reason for the line lock ?

there is electric and it just tee's or goes inline of the axle you have it plumbed in to . best not to do long time holding with these .

then there is older style lever locks that hold pressure mechanicly and can be had single or duel line system on 1 lever. also can be had with switch to sens pressure drop and honk horn . these get lines in the cab were you want it mounted.

I want to have some sort of e brake function since I'm converting my 14 bolt to disc and can't afford the ebrake calipers

Most line locks these days are electrical and use a solenoid, typically resulting in easier installation.

Line locks are really not intended to be used as an e-brake, although not saying they won't do the job. If you have to pass state inspection, be aware that in most localities a line lock isn't going to cut it as an emergency brake, because it isn't a separate mechanical backup, it just works off the existing hydraulics and provides no stopping power if there is a brake problem.

I've ran electric line locks on my rig for years, one on the front and one on the rear. They are bolted to the inner fender well so only minor brake line work is needed, then just run wires into the cab.

They are not an "emergency" brake by any means. If the brake pedal does nothing then a line lock will do nothing. They are useful for temporary/short term parking brakes. The intent of mine is when I need to park on a hill in the middle of the trail for a few minutes. I've had them on for probably 30-40 minutes before and they were fine. I've also accidentally left them on overnight and they drained the battery.
