on my way home last knight, I turned on my street and my brakes hit the floor. glad i wasn't in heavy traffic. dropped it in 1st gear and coasted home. i tried bleeding them maybe get lucky but no dice. this morning i changed it and bleed the system. got real good brakes again. that's why i buy life time warranty parts.

its saposed to snow on Sunday really good to at least it wasn't when i was playing in it. I even gave her a bath.

You sure are lucky the brakes quit on you on your street... Man that could have been badddd.

Yeah, no kidding!!! I had that happen when I was in high school, luckily there was an even bigger ram charger in front of me... wrecked up my lights pretty good, and only scratched his bumper.

at least you were not hurt,,ya im not happy that oreilys has moved there manufacturing out of the states, sometimes you get good part other times it catches fire.......

I used to play the lifetime part game, when i had more time than money. I found that most of those parts die very quickly, and even if the replacement is free, you have to swap it time and time again. This is especially dangerous with brake parts. Now i look up AC Delco part numbers on rock auto, and order from there or amazon.

Glad it worked out for you

Wow glad you're ok. I got almost that lucky once....lost brakes in my 66 Chevelle and was just buzzed enough to baby it home. It was all under control , would have been perfect IF my Moms 68 SS wasn't what stopped me :dunno:

X2, Ive found that most times if you replace a part with anything other than factory or high end aftermarket stuff you end up replacing it regularly.

I buy the cheap lifetime warrateed s*** because my truck doesn't get driven much--even the "best" parts fail from lack of use..lately I am not sure the "name brand" or OEM stuff is all that much better--lots of GM stuff is mexico and china made now too..

Its unusual for a master cylinder to lose all the brakes ,usually they leak down slowly with constant light pedal pressure,or only the front or rear half fails, and you still have "some" braking....glad you were able to stop ,and not hit anything !....

I've had my sphincter clench BAD when a brake line popped going down one of the steepest hills in a town nearby,I had to ride the curb with the right front tire,I was lucky to get it stopped before the end of the street ,which has a stop sign--and luckier still, that no cars were parked on the side of the road, which is very rare !..

ya i have had three fail like this one in a 73 camaro one in a 75 trans am and my blazer. the trans am was the scariest i had just jumped on it and was going 55 o 60 when i went to hit the brakes because some moron pulled in front of me, i downshift till first then spun the car around then jumped on it till it caught and stopped it.
A cop pulled up screaming at me are you crazy, i told him the brakes went out he said bs i said hit the pedal and then he congratulated me for not killing someone, dont think he saw me jump on it or it would have been a different ending.

He help[ed me push it out the road and gave me a ride to get a buddy to help me fix it. (only a couple of blocks away)

Looking back,I dont see how I lived this long, after having a '66 Buick Electra 225 that weighed 3 tons, with 4 wheel drum brakes, and a single bowl master cylinder..which leaked down to the floor at every red light or stop sign....one line pops on those pre '67 old barges, and NO brakes!..
I eventually had no choice but to replace the master cyl. on that car..

I also owned a '66 Buick Wildcat, that had a weird power brake booster issue..the brakes worked perfectly if you applied them slow and smooth--but try slamming them on for a panic stop, the pedal got rock hard and delayed moving down for a second or so,then it'd lock them up and put you through the windshield...used to scare the crap outta me!..

My '69 GTO was no prize in the braking department either--had 4 wheel MANUAL drums with 9.5" brake shoes!...with a 400 engine and a TH400,it would rocket up to 65 mph in seconds...but only after one fast stop at that speed, you could stand on the brake pedal, and not lock the wheels...FADE was an understatement!..

Never had an mc just drop like that, really scary. Mine when failing have always slowly dropped. Good job keeping it safe.

when the three that just quit died they never showed signs of failer just blah nothing
