Bridgeport J head mill

I just powered up a J head bridgeport that I bought on e-bay about 6 months ago. I was checking to make sure everything worked, and am having problems with power feed on the quill. It engages and the shaft with the little wheel on the front of the head spins, but I get really weak movement of the quill. It tries to move, but I can easily stop it with my hand. Any body out there have any experience with these mills? I will start tearing the head apart tomorrow after work, but I thought somebody on here might be able to give me some thoughts on what might be wrong. Thanks.

Sorry, can't help with your bridgeport problem, my mill is a deckel; but the guys in the bridgeport forum over at www.practicalmachinist.com will surely be able to answer any questions you might have. Good luck.
