I have a 89K5.
I have discovered a broken bracket for the power steering pump. I have attached a picture showing the broken bracket on the engine side of the power steering pump.
Anybody know where to buy such a bracket?

Ordinarily you'd just cruise into your local Chevy dealership and buy one.

However, I don't imagine you have one very close. :surepal: :haha:

The other problem is there are often different brackets for the same year, depending on motor size, whether your particular truck had smog equipment, and sometimes I think just the mood of GM that day. :)

I think my parts books are too old (printed before your truck was made) to have your part. Hopefully another member with a newer book can find a specific part number that looks like your half-bracket.

With the part number, you can either look on Ebay or the like, or worst case I can go to my local Chevy dealer and get the thing, then ship it to you.

The other option is to post a want ad on this website. There are plenty of guys with extra parts here.

:doah: Didn't think of that. Easier to match by picture too, though you might also post up what engine you have.

Someone may have purposely cut that bracket off when the headers were installed. :deal:

Thanks for your input.
I will make an ad and be more detailed about the engine.
Maybe I am lucky.

Gmpartswiki.com you can look up the bracket on the illustrated parts catalogs, takes a little bit to figure out how it works.

Thats just what I thought when I saw header tubes too!..

I'd see if you could just weld a piece onto the existing bracket that'll allow it to be bolted to the first header bolt,or some other close one..

A junkyard is the best place to buy a bracket, you'll have to make sure its the same year, engine size, with or without A/C,etc...
GM did change them around a lot..

this bracket will not fit to the engine with headers without modification. However I have one modified to properly fit I just took it off one of my trucks. You saw the bottom portion off that attaches to the pump. I can ship it to you for $25+shipping through pay pal. I can ship next saturday if youd like. Youll need spacers and long header bolts. I probably have the spacers but youll have to resource the bolts and washers at your local hardware store.

I noticed that, I dont care hell be paying for the shipping. How bad could it be lmao

I have an 89. That bracket goes up and secures on the manifold bolts. It is a bit redundant. Most people cut them off there as they are kinda hard to get all lined up right. Well not hard, just a pain in the rear. You have to loosen up about everything to get it on. After doing this 3 different times on mine, I finally cut my bracket like yours. I haven't had any problems since I did it. I would recommend not caring and just leave it.
