I still havn't taken the oil pan off my Banks 6.2, but I'm pretty sure the crank broke. So, if my rubber crank pulley was good, or not too bad, why do I see so many of these 6.2' and 6.5's with broken cranks?
Would hardening/nitriding help? Or are all the diesel cranks hardened? My hi-po Corvairs are hardened.

All diesel cranks are hardened Nitrided.
You are saying the harmonic balancer is good but you broke the crank?
Well there are other possibilities, bad crank for example.
:D Anyway you will get the pro answer in a few minutes.
I have a cranck for you if you want.
:D
Let's fill this burb up shall we?

The balancer was a little loose, wasn't clanking, maybe 'cause it was loose, compression low due to turbo and slack maintenance? The '87 I replaced it with was clanking big time, so I put the '86 Turbo one on, but it started clanking right away. So removed one from a crate 6.2 from a 3500 SRW. That's why I need a good used one...
I don't know if the crank is broken, the pulley wasn't too bad,,, I was driving on hillly interstate, not into the turbo, 30f, and tossed a belt and clanking big time. Put belt back on, and cranked slow and hard, hmmmm? Finally started, and whoa boy, dit it hammer big time, and that's how it sits... Luv to remove pan and peek inside... Just havn't found the time... :(
I was given a 170k 6.5 wo heads. No ridge at all, so it's got an appointment at the machine shop. Mate with 6.2 heads, put pic't Banks turbo on it... Will def check crank via magnaflux...

Need the pulley so I can move the 3500 SRW. How $? shipped to 12901. I'd take two...

I don't know, name a fair price and I will ship them to you.
