Broken pistons, only half the motor

I believe he said here full roller
Missed that... oops.
Some may disagree. But Id still use joe gibbs or lucas zinc oil anyway on break in, even with a roller. 2000 rpm or so for 20min. Drain, refill with oil of choice and go.

Flats are different since yours isnt flat I wont type it out. but you will get many differing opinions most likely roller or not.

Advice given with caveat, Ive only done this twice but maybe others with more experience can chime in.

It's a used Howards retrofit roller camshaft and retrofit lifters. I believe the shaft roller rockers are from MTS but I can't remember. Well, used, meaning it was put in the two-motors-ago motor that was in the motorhome. Probably only has 20 hours on it tops. Maybe 7 or 8 hours of road time.

The motorhome has been cursed. I could tell you guys all sorts of stories. He's probably $35k into a $20k motorhome.

What is the weight on the motor? I only ask because I've always been scared to use the manifold lifting device. Even more so when it's on an aluminum intake.

I have removed and installed BBC with a manifold plate on aluminum intakes.Never an issue. Was it smart? Probably not.

It is better to use a tilt adjuster for line up purposes. Also mounts to the heads for safety.

If you do the math on a 5/16" coarse thread bolt into soft aluminum it is good for ~1700lbs before the threads pull on a 3/4" engagement. If you half it for a "safety factor" it's still way more than the motor weighs. So four of them... it'll be fine.

I used to worry about it also until I did the math. In fact, until this motor, I always used to use a bolt in the heads and a chain because I thought so poorly of aluminum intakes. I'm still paranoid enough that I use ARP studs buried into the intake as far as they go which is why even though they're 1.25" studs no threads are showing.

In the motorhome I have no room for height. With the chainfall disassembled and the trolley disassembled for minimum height I can barely get the motor high enough with an intake lift plate to get it in. If you use a chain instead you have to pull the intake. No can do with a leveler. Plus it only weighs ~600lbs so you can easily manhandle it.

I can tell you that intake has rolled a 600lb motor in and out of the motorhome twice riding on 13' long beams to roll it in and out. One time I even accidentally lifted the transmission with it because I missed the front differential interlock bolt...
