budget beater - . . . HOLMES 220 single line boom wrecker install starting ..

carpet out today to save for the 2wd build .

gps in and road tested for speedo check and i am 5 mph off yet slow .

but MAJOR news is the doubler can be heard 100% now and its LOUD ! ! ! i know from the old plow truck what my th400/205 sounded like no carpet for 12 years . this brings a whole new level of loud . sounds like it grinding marbles on the inside and 1 hell of a clunk from a gear slam some place i didnt think was that bad before .

i hate to do it but i think i might just have to pull the doubler and go reg 205 for now and play with it later on down the road .

and to top it all off the sniper is stalling out on me and i have no way to data log it or see what going on with my controller out for service . :flipoff1:
That's why I prefer stock systems for fuel injection especially the first generation vortec I love it, smooth, powerful and fuel efficient.

I wondered if it even worked without the handheld.

My noise when I first did the Magnum was due to driveshaft angle. Sounded a lot like you describe.

oh i know driveline angle noise . my old setup was so short i had it .

this is right under the floor more tords the middle . i am about positive its 203 related . its a solid SLAM on decel .

oh ya and the rest of my vehicle gauges and info devices are in . took my time on placement so nothing blocks my driving view that is within the body area you would see anyways .

garmin gps on far left and thinkwear x500 dash cam above rear view mirror and also the rear cam is on the back glass behind me . took out head liner to fix it from falling down and took time to tape up wires / hide them / and run them were they needed to be . both these are feed by a key hot power feed so i dont have to do anything .

got my bar on today . ..... boy was it dirty / scummy / yucky . took purple power to the lenses and the 3 towels turned almost black from the gook on the bar . she is much better now .

then i whipped up a few tabs to mount the control box to the bottom of the dash . just so happened 1 screw for ash tray unit lined up on the left and under dash light on right bracket lined up . so no drill install of the box and its firm . the whole dash flexes not the mounting area .

got board today when my K&N air filter was drying off in the shop today .

whipped up my custom timbren bump stop mounts for the rear of the truck . spec for them is 1/2" - 1 1/2" off contact with no load . i am shooting for the bigger spec or a hair more maybe . i will only need them for real heavy stuff so i dont want to get in to them driving around all the time with the springs i have in the back being less than stock spec . in the pic there is a timbren 1" spacer puck i can use to dial them in for height and if i need i have a set of 3/8" plate steel circles i can add in . i got these used off evilbay for 55 bucks shipped from a 07-up f-150 rear . but the main unit is the same part # for our trucks so i just saved a ton on making my own mounts in under 1hr time over buying the kit GMRK30 for $320.00 most places .

thinking of adding a plate on the back side yet to pick up the rear half of the frame i welded back on and act as a fish plate for this area . will see how it plays out . but there going to hit a pad i will weld to the center of the leaf spring u-bolt plate so everything is high / tight / tucked in good . in the last pic you can see the weld in joint each side . and these bracket / mounts will be picking up the 2 1/2" bolts per side of DIY4X goosneck hitch side plates on the rear side of thee hitch .

use what ever i want around here is weather permits it .

but i dont own any chains for my trucks as the last 20+ years our area is mild compared to the old days . and the road deptments dump salt and de-icer down if it even smells like snow .

its hard for a man to admit this or anyone for that matter but this truck has me felling some mental depression

all the fuel injection problems from day one / cooling system giving me tons of problems i haven't even talked about on here yet / now the heater core is leaking / trying to pic a new fuel injection setup with what little money i don't have for this or any project at this point / don't trust current efi system anymore even if it was to have a clean bill of health slip from them / i just cant win .................

I have been dealing with my little 03 Honda civic for a couple of months.
Had some issues but ran. Changed the radiator because it was leaking and overheating. Changed timing belt water pump adjusted the valves and also changed the cam position sensor since I was getting a code for it.
Ran great for a week got it smoged then it died.
Figured a bad cam sensor so I changed it again and it didn't fix it so I checked codes and of course it's the crank position sensor.
So today I finally dove in and 3 hours later I had it changed.
No go.
Checked for codes, nada.
No idea what else to look for, it smells gas when I try to start.
From time to time I hear one spark but it never starts. I think tomorrow I will check the timing belt timing.
So long story short, I feel for you...:doah:

GPS?? You don't know where your going by now?!? j/k. I used to use the maps on my phone all the time when I delivered ur way. Is that the truck you bought from Lantz's? Didn't know it was that clean!!! Looks great!! And far as EFI goes, I like it, but if I was having ur problems, I'd throw it away and slap a carb on it.

@b454rat only thing left from the old lantz truck is the backhalf pickup bed trailer . its super chunky and has a cap on it for storing firewood only these days . this body is a another blue truck . these blue trucks just find me i dont know why ? ? ?
