:Dnew build # 2 is 6 WEEK JEEP

My buddy dave has a kid..well I ****ed up and told him if he gets strait A''s I will put his jeep together..

frame..junk yard frame, from a 88 yj 4cl

motor and wiring, from a 96 grand cherokee

tranny/t-case from ..well I forget I think craigslist

cab, straight RUST FREE "I love saying that" I believe its an 89

since i seriously want to get this done I figure ill post the progress..and yes its a jeep, but ill find a way to put a chevy touvh on it somewhere..:D

I started this a while back, did a spring over, cleaned and painted the frame and put a locked chromo shafted 4.56 geared rear axel in it. I still need to gear the front.

this week I plan to modify the 4cl mounts for the i6, pick up a new flywheel, shocks, steering bracket and a steering column.. oh and brake lines. I cant believe I am doing this again:doah:

Put a Narrowed Chevy Clip on it, that would be a nice chevy touch

um noooo

I did pick up the shocks, pitman arm, brake lines, body mounts and hardware and some other crap today though..

and the tranny and t-case is back there somewhere

Are you going to replace the wiring harness? I have owned Jeeps, still do. I would recommend putting a new harness in it. Of coarse you can go the "Painless" route, but I would suggest you go with "Centech" , much better quality and fit. Yes, about 75 bucks more, but well worth it. I'll use nothing but Centech from now on.

um... dont know what happened but the kid ended up not pulling the grades so the project got pulled. Well, grades have been good and ive been working on it.

got the old motor mounts out, ordered new ones

got the body straight, dents out and tub in primer and a little guide coat, new body mounts on. Just picked up a yj harness since i am using a drivetrain from a grand cherokee. Got a new housing up front and had 4.56 gears stuffed in, got it back and put new seals, bearing and ball joints in her and welded on the new spring perches for the spring over and new springs on. I went with stock new yj spring up front for the spring over so the ride should be nice. Also the cage is back from powdercoat so ill get those pics up

so.. forward progress it is.

My oldest is 7 so I'd only get 9 years to "work out the kinks" :doah:

Either that or you could build him a 9 year Blazer. :D

got her painted up, little problem on the windshield frame but ill reshoot it. I think I have a helper, so the herc and dash should get yanked out of the parts jeep tomorrow for me, this weekend ill weld up the new motor mount brackets and mock the wiring harness. Paint is just single stage nothing fancy. I do want to put some satin black on the center of the hood though.

also piking up some cheap tires and we will make the kid run them till he buys his own tires, his dad would rather buy him a new soft top. So gay tires it will have:D

ill update more after this weekend or maybe if I get a couple hours on it tomorrow

Looks really good !! Just an idea, I just sold my 81 CJ-5, ( built it and had it since 1999), but when I was out in Nevada, I had a problem when I crushed the tail-light once so I went to the local truck stop and bought some LED round trailer lights and flush mounted them. That really cleaned up the look of the rear of the jeep and those things were bright as heck. Just an idea to pass to you. Frickin Jeep looks good though, nice work on your part.
