on the crapper...
Ok, I might actually get off my keester and build something.

Here is my question? How should I record my heroic building and fabbing skilz (and my credit card limit)?

A build thread is the standard answer, but it can be a pain to read thru 84 pages of posts and sort out the tech.

I like the idea of a build blog, where all the tech can be in one place, but then how do I get people to tell me how cool or stupid I am?

I also like the idea of setting up a seperate web site to record my build so I can organize everything better, but that is a lot more work, probably a little more $$$ that could be better spent on parts, and again how do I get comments? This option also prevents the post on 6 different boards problem.

Some combination of a blog or website with a thread would allow the tech to be in one place and the comments in the thread, but who is gonna want to click back and forth between the two for my crappy build?

Fire away.....

I thought this would provoke more discussion, but only one vote so far and nobody has posted.

I know you guys have opinions.

For clarification, the blog I am talking about is the new CK5 blog feature.

I voted build blog. The garage has alot of build threads in it already and it becomes a hassle (like you said) to flip through the whole thread to see updates. I very rarely check the blogsection. Maybe i should do that now.

Im doing a build blog on my crew cab. In CK5's blogs of course, but as you said not many people post comments. It is cool though because you can devide it into specific projects. If more people did the blog thing Im sure more would look there eventualy. It will be MUCH easier to find just the info you want, like say a 14B disk brake conversion (witch I will be doing soon) will all be in one post.

I vote blog it here on CK5.

ck5 has a blog now? yup, now I see it there.

I dont blog. I dont like the way the word sounds.:p:

but there are a lot of build threads. maybe we should have a "build" forum where all the build threads go.

Steve has said thats what he wanted the blogs for is build ups, rather than a build forum. So following his sugestion thats where mine went.

That's a great idea aptly named Mr. SmartAss, I think I'll do that. :haha:

I guess I gave away which direction I was leaning with my sig huh?

I vote separate website. I also haven't checked the blog section, so it may have the option of laying it out as you want it. I just think a separate site would make it easier to filter through the information. One page(s) for frame mods, another for body chopping... That and I figure since my opinion is largely disregarded anyway, I should vote for the direction you didn't plan on going. Something about laziness iirc. :D

I do really like the idea of a seperate website, and depending on how you look at it, it may actually be easier to maintain (since you won't have to update your build on several different boards) - but it is definitely more work up front, and less likely to have anybody actually look at it. I think my ISP lets me have a small site (~10MB?) for free (well included with the $$ I already pay anyhow), but that may not be large enough, and I'm sure it will be some crazy URL.

Not only am I probably too lazy to set up my own website, I am too lazy to make a decision about which way I should document the build I am too lazy to actually do!

J/K, I am actually doing some stuff, but nothing too earth shattering, and not very quickly at that.
