Just to clarify my previous brief post:

I've tested it with both fans on, and it's a large draw, but I don't typically need the secondary fan, so I figure in the rare (if ever) instances that I need it, I won't care.

Thats what I found this week... Been hot as all h*ll, its doing fine on the one fan 90% of the time, but today in traffic, I kicked on the secondary just for ease of mind..

Haven't checked the amp draw, but it's beating on that little 64 amp (?) alt pretty good... :haha: still charging at 13.8 - 14, but you can watch the volts take a good hit when ya kick em on... :eek1:

And people asked why I run dual #27's... :wink1: Now I just need my guy to put together a nice 200 amper for me.. :D

If both fans are coming on as you have it now, disconnect one and see what your alternator can do, and make sure it's enough cooling. In my case I'm running an 87 amp alt, and it works fine. Yea I will check that for sure. Im not sure if I should have bought the summit brand. But then again it could be such a huge draw on it because of all the splices the PO had in the wiring throughout the entire vehicle. He has butt connectors in at least 2 places in all of the engine bay because he didnt have enough wire to run it the full length. I am going to the JY to pull a complete harness or maybe just order a Painless eventually. Stupid a$$ PO's

make your own... :wink1:

Boy, I love not having the mechanical... So nice not having to worry about arm-chopping...

I actually felt a tad seat-o-pants performance gain too... Didn't care, but was surprised I noticed it..

Yea I could make my own what do you recommend for wiring and where to get it? I also noticed a slight increase in engine performance, nothing crazy but enough to tell.

I suggest it would be a good idea to carry backups for all relays and breakers in your parts box when you hit the trail.

I was happy with my electric fans... up to the moment a relay let go after about 10 months of trouble-free service. The relay just one day turned into smoke; the only saving grace was that this happened in my driveway. I haven't had any trouble with my old clutch fan ever since. I converted one of my two electrical fans into an auxiliary pusher, which helps a little bit with temps in AZ.

Oh yea thats the first thing I did. I have a bunch of Bosch relays sitting around from installing car audio, so I put them all in a plastic bag and in the toolbox that I take wheeling.

If you wire the fans to come on seperately, if one relay smokes (the primary) you simply swap the connectors from one relay to the other. :) Or, if you want to make sure each gets used equally, swap connectors every oil change.

I *personally* recommend using the same relays for everything you have if possible for those reasons.

I like using the GM weatherpack connectors. They are water-resistant, locking, and easy to seperate when you need to. They also accept large gauge wiring, which is a plus when talking about 30+ amps. A bit pricey to get into, but the connectors are pretty common in wrecking yards. Just need the terminals and the cheap tool for de-pinning them.

You've mentioned these in the past as well. Seeing as I don't own any late model GMs any chance you could take a pic of these so I can hunt some down? Thanks.

Here you go! That's the one that runs to both fans, and I stuck the "depinning tool" in it as well just because. These are the same connectors as used on the TPS, ESC bypass wire, etc.

A lot of the new new vehicles use metri-paks or something like that, which are much smaller connectors. The weatherpacks can be had from single to at least 6 terminal flats, as well as 4 terminal square. Probably other variations I haven't seen. :)

Well did a compression test and found out my piston rings are toast :doah:
Also got a TBI setup that should be here tomorrow :thumb:

So now I am working on an engine rebuild. Along with that I will be mounting the batt to the firewall and using a mojave heater. Also going to build a custom fan shroud for my windstar fans. Going to be rewiring everything as well and make it look as pretty as I can :D. Fenders are also going to stay off so I can run bigger tires in the near future.

Here are some pics of tear down process:

Its cake, there are like 5 or 6 nuts and screws and it just pops right out. Inside is a bit different but if you are not using any of it again you dont have to worry too much about messing up the cable positions. I havent pulled the heater core or any of the interior heating stuff out yet, but sometime next week it will all be out.

Yep! All got it yesterday! I havent had a chance to open it up yet but I will either tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again! I will also leave you feedback soon. Too bad I have to wait to rebuild the engine before I get to put it all on :doah:

Yeah, definately sorry you have some xtra work but your rigs gonna run great:waytogo:. Keep up the great work... Spring will arrive some day. Snowing here

I am glad it has stopped here. I was so bored all winter not being able to do anything to my blazer. My goal is to have the engine all done by July and at least have taller gears in the 10bolts for BB08 if not a 1 ton swap.

Well instead of rebuilding my engine I picked up a running TBI 350 for $275. It has a dif cam and 305 heads that have been rebuilt and ported w/bigger valves. Runs awesome! So I am working on swapping engines, wiring the engine bay for TBI and also eliminating my heater.

I am going to put a set of hedman elite headers on it (69830) and do a different exhaust w/a high flow cat and super 44 muffler, single exit and nice and tucked up.

I am also going to start tearing out the floor covering. The PO put in rubber flooring but I want to pull it all out and Herculiner the floor.

I ripped out all of the heater components to make room for the mojave heater. And I will be putting all of my relays and the computer up under the dash.

That is all for now. Next up will hopefully be axle swap, got to go to ND to get my 1-tons though, hopefully they will cost me next to nothing.
