Build up questions.

I took a small trip today. I also scored a free camper shell. This is perfect for the next stage of the build.

which is???? still waiting on pics too!

Thank you Sir, for posting up the pictures. It is greatly appreciated.

The next stage is kinda off. I have been watching a bunch of these over landing videos that are on YouTube. I have always admired that kind of wheeling but, have cringed at the price tag of these kind of rigs. I have been thinking a lot about red neck over landing. When I was growing up over landing or expedition wheeling terms just didn't exist. We called it car camping back then. I have been thinking about doing some "over landing" but, on a very streamlined budget. Free camper shell, bed roll, sleeping bag, fire pit, dutch oven, ice chest, and some good times. Try and show that it isn't about having and using the latest and greatest gadgets to hit the market but, more experiencing wheeling and being out in nature. Having a fun time, on a nickle and dime.

Awesome! This is exactly what we do with our rigs. Travel around and stay in interesting places. I still haven't gotten my camping rig (Suburban) too far off the road, as I'm still working on ensuring dependability. But we're getting closer, and we've still managed to leave the roads behind a few times each year.

Overlanding does not need to be expensive, and no fancy gear is required. You just need a dependable rig and a desire to see what's over the next hill. This summer we were tearing through overgrown snowmobile trails...with our Saturn. Not the awesomest choice for offroad excursions, but it's what was available and did a fine job. I haven't managed to push it too far...yet.

Higher ground clearance will open up even more opportunities. :D

Campfire, thank you for the props. The changes are going to be very slow from now til my family and I get settled again. We are having to relocate from our home here in Northern New Mexico. So, the plans will also have to evolve into this new much slower pace.

Campfire, looks like I will be moving to the Amarillo, Texas area. My job situation here at home has ended and it is going to take some time before I can get my family relocated with me. I am interested if anyone know of any wheeling in that area.

Love the pics!

Thank you for the props.

Sierra just got finished at the shop again. This time it was hood stiffening brackets, hood hinges, New brake booster, and master cylinder. She lost front brakes and had to be parked. She is done and will be coming home Saturday.

Well, sierra was sold last week. I was out of work for about 50 days or so. I am really bummed about losing her but, she did go back to the owner I bought her from. Perhaps someday I can get her back.

Sorry man!

Best of luck too you!

Thanks y'all. Needs had to be met for the family. I was laid off December 1. I had my birthday then my last day at my old job. Had to live on unemployment which doesn't pay much. I used to make more in a day than unemployment paid in a week. January 11 I started a new job 400 miles away from home. I had to pay some bills and Sierra was what paid them. Super bummed about not seeing my family for months on end but, I guess it isn't much different than being on deployment. Tough to handle but, no impossible. My new job is nothing less than fantastic at this time. Looking forward to moving my family here with me in Texas.
