Got bored at work so I cooked up a receiver insert for a 1 3/8" clevis I've got. 1 3/8" shackle is 13 1/2ton working load capacity.

laser cut 2 - 1/2" mount and laminated them together for a 1" lug. took 10" of 2" solid square stock, drilled the 5/8" pin hole. cut 4" of 4" x 5/8" flatbar for the lug base.........and welded her all up.

This pig with the solid 2" bar and the clevis attached weighs well into the 40 to 50 lb range. I love it.......indestructible! I'm going to get the boys in the paint shop to powdercoat it for me........you know a "government" job ;)

Bah!. Itll snap right off. look at those shoudy welds.

LoL..j/k..Looks good, nicely done. :D

I want something like that for my receiver, but the cheapest I've seen is about $50

I love overkill but all that material behind the pin hole is wasted weight. you could probably cut 4" and 10 lbs off of that.

I dont agree.....4" behind the pin hole only leaves 1" material behind the pin.....to take ALL the force. and I plan on YARDING on the thing. doing various things.

Plus, I don'[t care about weight, my truck weighs around 7600lbs...........in daily driver trim. Whats another 50lbs for something that will never break and may save someone elses ass someday.

Especially when you are running in an 8,000lbs extreme diesel class..... add another 2 or 3" of 4" stock to that thing!

Size of that clevise you prolly coulda just ground down the square stock a bid and drill a hole lol

Nice work

all that beef and it's still relying on a 5/8" pin to hold it in the receiver.
Why not drill another hole to accept a second pin?

Good point.

I'll can add a second @ 3/4" just for this insert.

I don't believe I could ever shear a 5/8" pin with a full 2" contact area. but I'll add another anyways.

Funny thing is I have a couple of those clevise's and want to do just that.:D

Mount one in the rear and one up front. Think they can take the side loading from a center mount?
