Ok, i just got a non step chrome bumper for my 78 and there is a gap between the bumper and the tail pan of the bed, i know on my k5 i use to have that there was some kind of aluminum piece or somting there that would fill the gap, am i just imagining this? Or where or who sells them?

Here is a link to a thread on this website, the shot that shows the rear has the piece i need in it. its the aluminum piece bwtween the bumper and tailgate.

Would this fit on my truck? It might be called a deflector in LMC for a K5 Blazer.

If anyone has a one laying around in good shape let me know, im interested in getting it.

I have yellow one. It is in great shape, just a couple bends I think. It's newly painted. They are really hard to find without big dents and bends in them for some reason. I think it's because they are made of a tiny gauge metal.

Does anyone else have one of these laying around?

Im hoping that from all these bumper converstions that have gone on, some of these parts would be laying around.

Im pay and pay for shipping!

I think they are kind of a problem, all they do is collect crap and debris that might fall out of between the bed and tailgate (especially when you open it), and then it rusts there and causes the bumper brackets to rust too.

Beautiful truck by the way.

I am wondering, with that fancy new bumper, are you going to replace that hitch with something more professional looking? It looks like bubba was going to use it as a wheelie bar.

Well the hitch is what was installed in the 70'a by the origonal owner to pull his camper a few times in the summers. It is coming off, just like the runner boards have already. I also have a chrome license plate baking that needs to me installed once the hitch is cut off. (welded to frame). If i can get a nice chrome one, or get one painted after i get it, and it looks decent, then I want to put one one, i am never going to put anyting in the bed again so I dont need to worry about debree, its all for looks now!

Exactly why I left mine off the K30.

I removed the plastic crap under the footwell cab mounts, both gas tanks and the front bumper valance. No more collecting dirt, mud, rust, etc.

Well i went to the junk yard, one of them in my town. I have heard that the guys there are idiots, I called anyways and asked if they had any "the body style" 73-91 k5 or burb or any pickup in thoes years. They himhawed and interruppted me from explaining that the part i need could come off more that one vehical in multipule years, long story short, they said we have NONE of thoes types of vehicals, they are to OLD they said. Well so driving by after work i pulled in, and started walking back, and what do you know, they had 15 of "the body style" i was looking for.

I pulled a plastic gap filler piece off that would work, and can be cleaned up nicly, also i pulled the chrome head light retainer rings off a K5, mine have surface rust these look new, so 20 bucks later and telling THEM what they had sitting around in their yard i got what i needed, thanks for the help and offers guys.
