Hello, I am new here and can not seem to find the search function, so I will just ask my question:
Is anyone familiar with Kennesaw Mountain Accesories bumpers (web addres below)? I am building my 1991 Suburban and looking for front and rear steel.

www . kenmtn . com

thanks much,

Once upon a time, KMA had an awful reputation for horribly slow delivery times (if at all). That said, I have seen anyone mention that company in years.

There was a guy in my hometown years ago that had one on a burb. It looked pretty sturdy, but I just remember the grill mesh on the bumper looking like chain link fence. Other than that I can't tell you much. It was fairly pricey. This was about 8 years ago and I think it was a grand, and that's without any shipping

I need to add, there is a local guy - justwhatIdo - with KMA bumpers and they do look good.

I have seen one once. It was alright. I would suggest some of the others that are closer to you therby saving on freight. Try Blazenoffroad,
DPI, DIY4X or ORD.

From their web-site they appear to be in business as they have references to 2008 and 2009 trucks. Price wise it would be about $560 for a front bumper + shipping. They have pricing listed on the web-site and they can add up if you start to include extras - brush guards, lights etc. The picture of the one with grill mesh is pretty ugly.
I will check out the references that Bulldog listed.

thanks,

Part of the problem with KMA was it was (and maybe still is) a side line business. Kyle is a friendly guy, but has been hit and miss on the quality. I've seen some of his work that was great and some that was more in the "fair" category. He can also be slow.

If it means anything, he is local to me and I still bought my bumper from http://www.blazenoffroad.com/main.sc , paid the shipping from CA to GA, and I am very happy with it.

Thanks again. I will call the guys at Blazen Offroad and see if they can do semi-custom work. Their bumpers look nice, just not exactly what I am looking for. I do like the look of the Kennesaw winch bumper, but will keep searching after your comments.

best regards,

Kert at DIY4X makes a kick ass bumper and he will do custom stuff as well. He's a great guy to deal with.

KMA is very slow. my buddy got one of the bumpers for his jeep and it took over a month to do the front and rear. They look great but in the end the front bar ion the grill guard was higher on one side than the other and when they installed it they didn't remove all the stuff for the old bumper and it always was squeaking. idk cool looking products. when i get some money im going to make a big order of the front rear and rock guards to DPI.

I've wheeled with Kyle b4. He's a big Nissan guy. I know him through my friend Nate who was in real truck club challenge a few years back with his frontier and once he started his straight axle swap he hasn't been seen since. As for Kyle he seems like a real nice guy but I know nothing about his shop other than that Nates Frontier has prolly been taking up space there.

Have any of you guys tried to build your own? Or at least design you own and have a fab shop build it? I may try to come up with some templates to see how it may look and to price it out.

Simple, square (well, rectangular) tube with a few tweaks. 4x4High did, but his thread is in the Lounge, which you can't see... lots of other folks, have at the Google search.

You're all the way in Cali, theres gotta be 100000 people around you that can make a bumper. If I were you I'd get a local shop to do something that you design if you can't do it yourself. If its something you're gonna just wheel and its gonna get bashed on anyhow, I'd make your own and look at it as a learning experience.

I have built a few for myself and other people pretty easy to do. The hardest part is coming up with the look you want and the strenth you need.

Dremu,
That is close to the look I am going for. Very nice work.

MrDrinkSalil, good advise. I will look for a fabricator after I mock up a rough design.

thanks again to you all,

While you have some good advice already. I will simply say RUN, RUN as far from KMA as possible.

I have their front and rear bumpers , I tell ppl they were custom made, I hate to utter KMA. Their customer service is the worst. (this was 3 years ago). I was told my bumper was a BOLT ON, LoL..it wasnt even close. Luckily my 4x4 is a good fabricator and got it to work and look good. THey said it would be a month, it was 4 and then when I called they got all pissy with me. This was b4 I found CK5 and the vendors here, otherwise I wouldve went with someone else.

Also when they shipped it. they wrapped it in plastic , well thats not too bad, expect they painted it the day b4 they shipped it, you guessed it , paint came off everywhere and you could still smell the paint, it hadnt even dried yet.

Next came the missing parts, I ordered Shackles and some other things , they werent with the order. I called and it was a big hassle for them to complete my order.

So, if anyone from KMA sees this post, Here is a big "Take your bumpers and shove them up your azzez" Never again will I do business with such rude inconsiderant asses.

Lesson Learned.

Infact do a search on Yahoo for them, youll get your share of complaints.
