Turns out about 3 hours is all you need to slap a pinched nose together. It was especially forgiving because nothing lined up. Everything is bent. Came out pretty good relative to my expectations.

Also we always keep superduty carrier bearing shims on hand and today they came in great. They are my new front shackles as well as frame repair. Bent down the buckle part and welded in that mess. Just going to buckle elsewhere, but later.
Still need to mount the battery. I opted to put it on the firewall. Probably only 20 more zip ties and it will be done!

I can dig it! Looks like you'll be done just in time to bring it to Bama Nov 8-11. :thumb:

Did you keep the rear portion of the hinges?
I did. I used the rear most bolt on the hood itself. I decided against cutting the backside of the hood because it would just be a floppy mess.
It does make it much nicer than a couple guys I know who have done this who need two people to open the hood.

helped a friend cut up his old short bed he had for years . used it for racing and play and street use . last few years he always was wondering why the front end was kind of mushy in turns .

when we cut it up we found both sides of the frame bent and cracked directly down from the firewall same area as yours . the top was cracked and bent and half way down the sides also . :yikes:

i always was thinking the bolt in military braces off the trucks and blazers would they help the average guy before he goes full cage . ? i did install a set on my budget beater frame .

Yeah I had a set on my m1008 but I never got around to it because they had to go with the frame.
I'm sure they help but....

I had a set of those brackets that I tried to put on my Blazer but they interfered with the rear upper shackle hangers (52” swap). I considered cutting them but there wouldn’t be enough left to make a difference.
