Welp finally bit the bullet and dove in head first. I think I may have been a little bass ackwards but I bought a 14ff d44 and sm465/205 before I have actually bought the truck... But I digress. Had to buy a generator last week when our power went out after the hurricanator, and i decided to trade it for whats in the pictures belooow. Gotta go pick up the burb t/m and dont worry im gonna be posting LOTS of pics. After pics of both the truck and axles will be up t/m night or Sunday mornin. Oh and these suma breaches were HEAVY... $500 bux btw

Alright, didn't have a chance to pick up the burb today, went and helped a buddy pick up his new 383 stroker s10 :eek1: but I did get a chance to get the sm465 cleaned up and take a couple of pics of the 14b. Oh and how exactly are you supposed to tell if either one are any good? All the teeth on both seem to be ok, the trans didnt have much oil in it and a little water . Oh and what kind of tcase is this?

Guess I should put up the build plans actually... 91 burb with bad 700r4 thats been parked under a shed since 03. Interior is perfect except for the headliner, front bumper and grill need replacing from hitting a deer but otherwise no dents or rust. All the glass is in pretty good shape as well. PO says the motor was running when it was parked but it has been 8 years since it was cranked so i dunno.

The plan

drag the big beast from under the barn

wash off 8 years worth of dust

clean up the interior

auto to manual conversion

replace both axles

6 in lift

35 super swamper tsl/sx

etc...

the t-case is 205.

good start. i usually buy stuff i might need later if its a really good deal. its always better than paying too much because you need THAT part right now.

Yeh I wasnt planning on changing axles yet but heck I got everything for 5 bills so I figured why not. Im hoping everything is in good shape but I guess if just one thing out of the 4 works im still good.

so, this is an honest to goodness ground-up build....:D:D:D:waytogo:

sorry, had to...:doah:

You guys think I should rebuild the sm465 and 205? Im not really sure how to tell what condition their in. Any pics that would help you help me tell? I don't really want to waste the coin to rebuild them if they really dont need it.

Im planning on swapping out the old 700 to a sm465 but I have a couple of questions... Being a post 85 350 i will need to get a flywheel for that engine but I need to order a clutch kit that will fit the trans correct? And its a pre 85. Just trying to make sense of what is what. Any help is greatly appreciated.

1991 speedos are electronic, that 205 is mechanical. You'll need to get a pulser adapter from Dakota Digital to make the speedo work. It's a mechanical to electrical converter.

I hit PAP this week and found a suitable donor for my clutch pedal and all the goodies that comes along with it. Let me tell you, the hardest part of the whole swap has been getting that dang pedal bracket with the place for the spring installed beneath the dash... I mean it was a real PITA. Now quick question, the clutch linkage that goes through the firewall down to a bracket on the frame, every donor i could find had dam rivets through them. Can you buy them aftermarket? I worked on drilling, hack sawing, and generally swearing alot at one dang rivet i never got out.

sm465 shift fork

So I finally cracked the case on the 465 after waiting a week on the Novak rebuild kit. First thing I find is the reverse shift fork is worn on both ends but not that badly. Question is should i spend the $60 :eek1: for a new fork or go with the one I have? This is the Burban and BROKE build btw. I can run back over and take a pic and put it up if that helps.
