View attachment 256045 This is the wife’s burb, she wanted stuffs done and I was on the hook for a while and now I am doing it 1 week before KOH.. yah it sux..

Plans are fully desmog, clean up engine bay to allow ease of service.
Long toobs
Hptuners used to unlock all the awesomeness the big block has hiding in it.

Already put a 4.5 inch spindle up front and 2 inch blocks out back.

Extended plans are to use this for our OBS midtravel daily suspension test bed. So it’ll prob get coilovers at some point and will get a sas coilover way down the line when I swap in a tcase for 4x.

Read more about this build here...

Took one half of the friggen stock exhaust off and got one header welded up with an o2 bung and bolted in.
The fit is really good and the only mod I’ll need is to remove the rubber boot from the steering shaft.
The egr bs hosing sucked a$$ to remove. They’re going to have to be blocked off somehow in the intake.. not sure how I am gonna do that yet. I would like to remove all traces of egr, clean up the intake appearance.
Remember I live in 120 degree weather so the cooler the intake charge the better and it hovers around 140 on a normal day with a stock intake.. heat shielding will be implemented ASAP..

Haha! Ohhhhhh Steve.... I truly envy you! You have more stuff going on than anyone I know and you still seem to be able to bounce around between them without having to take much time to gather yourself. Looking forward to this build just like all the other ones you have going on!

Dude I swear I wish I could widdle that down to 2-3 things but dang that never seems to happen. You should see what I work on at my job... no less than 30 items all going at once..
I technically am a project manager of sorts..

Nice truck.

As far as cleaning up the egr bs...the marine intake doesn't have the egr and should be a direct swap.
Only drawback is its a cast iron manifold, but what's another 50lbls at this point?

Lol interesting.. I’ll pass on the iron stuff, easy to make block off plates.

Anyone know of a oem app that has the proper distributor terminals and 90 degree boots? The straight bolt plug wires will only work on 4-5 cylinders.

Man this got tight real quick like.. I had intended to use the oem crossover but there is no way that is happening with headers.. driver side went in fine the passenger side fought the whole way. Ended up removing a head shield from the floor where the body pinches and has a seam, that freed up the space I messed . Then welded the bung on vertically without realizing there was another heat shield in my way. So I had to jack up the body cut that one out of the way then install the sensor. If this gives me fits I’ll put another bung in the pipe just behind this at an angle. I got the majority of the tube layed out how I want it. This should set me up for primo placement of the muffler and land it right where the oem tailpipe exits.. now if I could find them damn plug wires..

I put a blackwidow on of course!! Dannng shes nasty now too! Cant really hear that much inside, which is nice, I did keep the oem tailpipe but I promise those next to and behind me know its a big block, shes got some bark. Ill take some video, its way mellower than the side exit on Ethel.
I added a bunch of timing. I am going to keep going, I have the MAF within 2-3% Check out the screenshot from my logging, the white line is commanded fuel and the green is the wideband. I cant even get Ethel that close in that short of time.. Truck runs gooooddd now, actually very responsive and lifts the front up on WOT. I was reading some guys are running 40 degrees of timing at wot with these heads.. while I am not that brave Ill keep bumping a few degrees at a time until I see knock then back it off 2-4 degrees. Ill then hookup the trailer and check it for consistency so that when its heat soaked etc it doesnt ping itself into the ground. Ill prob throw more fuel at the PE if I cant get these dang IAT's down.. For a totally stock truck this is retarded. I saw as high as 125 degrees and its not even 70 outside!! I am going to shield the MAF and move the temp sensor when I make a real cold air intake.. I bet there is 20hp in fixing that alone!

IATs are hard to manage.

On the last Blazer LS swap I did I made a nice tube out of flexible dryer vent which then was coated with aluminized duct insulation tape, then about 17 coatings of Flexseal. Then we coated the factory truck airbox inside and out with Flexseal and the tape, now it barely cracks 100* unless it's real hot outside.

Interesting, Ill check that out, I think the major issue is the maf is directly over the exhaust and the IAT sensor is right ahead of that, I have a couple Ideas I am gonna try, The LS in Ethel is 3-5 degrees over what ambient temp is.. so IAT doesnt even become an issue unless its super hot out, and even then the highest I have ever seen is 135 and it was 122 that day and I was stuck in traffic on I10..
