Burgler Proofing A Topless Blazer

Wire up a 12 position DIP switch so only the right "combo" works, IE 1 up, 2 up, 3 down, 4 up, 5 down, 6 down, 7 up etc. With 4096 options, they will try something esle, but thats after they even find it. They come really small for PC boards too. I really need to start thinking about this though, I leave my top off all summer, and it's a 71, so there isn't even a hood lock, not like that would matter with the top off! How about a hidden micro lock to lock the brakes? Mechanical lever, so it would be independant of the battery, and as a bonus, they couldn't push it or tow it.

Drill a shotshell sized hole in a large rat-trap. I believe 12 gauge is 3/4". So the bar comes down where the firing pin would have. the trigger on the trap with some fishing line attatched makes a good tripwire. Mount it inside the truck, under the seat. run the tripwire to a pedal. If you use a blank shell, you`ll know some one is messing with your truck, and it will probably scare the crap out of 'em. Might need to clean your seat afterwards. If you use buck shot, the guy trying to steal your equipment ends up losing his. Bad news is you go to jail with the buckshot.

this was some thing that i was milling over. how about a piece of tubing from the main hoop to the brake pedal through the steering wheel. do you think it might work or just too much of a hassle?

Garage and always bring your dog, unless its a small un frighting dog.

Then i have no idea!

I keep the top off all summer and will put it back on in October. Removable face sterio and I use the club and just don't keep anything in the truck of value unless heading out to wheel. I also park the Blazer in the garage at night. It fits height wise by 1/8 of an inch:) Yep the oldest piecer is in the garage the wifey car and my big truck are outside all the time.

The key is to make it a vehicle nobody would want. So just put some Obama bumper stickers on it.

One other forum I'm on has a warning that a thread is more than X days old (180, I think). You have to check a box saying that you acknowledge it's an ancient thread before it'll let you post. Just sayin...

Anyway, PAD.

And, OP, you still got your truck or did it ever get stolen?

Just remember that you cannot use deadly force to protect property....in other words...if you see somebody sitting in your rig, you can't shoot him...you may flash your piece and hope that he gets out or pulls one on you...then it's a different ballgame.

I was a bit disappointed to find out that you can't shoot theives..:doah:

oh wow...didn't realize this thread was old..old...however I have wondered the same thing too...with a full vert rig, what can you do short of never taking your eyes off it?

So this thread is 7 years old...

:doah:

I remember it clearly.

I'm surprised no one has invented a barbed wire soft top for K5's yet....that'd discourage theives!.....
