My youngest cousin is now 16. Asked me about an old Chevy. He asked if possible for diesel in a manual. I found a k20 pretty nice one. Far as hell away. Found a Short bed to. Found a Few other things here and there. Found an okay deal on a K 20 with no motor. hAs a lift bigger tires. Not sure if I should get him something stock or something that has some things done are all ready.. What do you guys think? so far I'm thinking about the K 20 that's kind of far away. Thanks guys have a good one

Might as well get him something that is already in a direction you know he will want to go. If you can get one that already has a lift and tires, he will be more set and will have a leg up on the rest of us that had to be broke 16 year olds that had to save their summer job money to buy lift and tires.

No engine though. At least you could drive your truck while saving up.

As to the OP, tough one. How mechanically inclined is the kid? Does he want to learn to wrench on it or does he just want a big old truck?

Good question. A nice project rig that he can work on can build valuable skills and appreciation. You just don't want to get some clunker that requires a discouraging amount of time and money to get on the road.

nevermind.. he got a cj7. 3k V8 and 1 tons already. getting delivered later this week
