wait... you have payments? on a tool box?! good lord why?

student loans, credit card debt, and the tollbox payment... $5500 Snap On tool box, i needed it, so i bought it. oh and Fil, i'm not a mechanic. i'm a technician.

damn, I know them SO tool boxes are nice, but for $5500 it had better fix my junk all by itself, dispense cool tech info and come with a couple of bikini-clad chicks too. lol!

next time my dad or wife accuses me of being 'to into tools' I'm going to reference this thread. I assume if you have that much into a tool chest, you have at least as much in tools that actually go in the chest. Yikes. My 1-ton'd K5 cost less than your tools. lol!

Well, I've been a tech for 15 years, so I have quite a collection of tools. If I had to guess, I probably have $15k+ in tools, not including the box. That's just in tools that go IN the box.

:haha: :haha: That is my way of thinking too :D

I know if I told my wife I was buying a $5500 tool box she would ask me was it 2 door or 4 door and what size motor it had in it and would it pass inspection :D

I have met a few people over the years that have had over $10,000 bucks just in the boxes not counting all the tools.. Even though they made a living with the tools I just couldn't figure out how the tool boxes would ever actually pay for their self.. I asked why not buy a Craftsmen box or something that was a lot cheaper and the only answer I ever got was because it is not a Snap-On

Maybe $10,000 tool boxes are a lot like that Jeep Thing I just don't understand that either :dunno: :haha:

There's not a Craftsman box that even comes close to my box in size, maybe half it's size. I have tools in every drawer and one "junk" drawer. Also, the cheaper boxes are not nearly as secure as the Snap On or Matco boxes. Then there's the best reason,......tax write off.

yeah, you use tools to make a living so it makes perfect sense having bling tools and bling tool chests. I wouldn't like a 'tool chest payment' but I'm definitely jealous of big tool collections. Must be nice to almost always have the right tool for the job. I have the right tool about 90% of the time... but the 10% is what ya remember. ;)

you guys may think that's alot, but when you use your tools to put food on the table, rather than just to tinker around at home with, good quality tools are a must. as for boxes, when you open a drawer 50 times a day, the box has to stand up to that abuse.
